This role will be the strategic interface for Tax and Internal Audit systems; driving business-IT strategy development, solution discovery, service management, risk management and relationship management. This specific position will report to the Director, Finance Systems and will focus on capabilities for Finance while leveraging existing or envisioning new solution capabilities.

Specific functions include:
  • Align with Tax and Internal Audit business to set vision and strategy for BTS technical capabilities and components.
  • Proactively seeking out and collaborating with Tax and Internal Audit finance business area (s) and technology leaders on strategic business opportunities to enable efficiencies and cost savings.
  • Ensure Tax and Internal Audit finance platforms are up to date and high quality of data integrity across finance applications is met following Enterprise Architecture guidelines.
  • Develops subject matter expertise in overall Tax and Internal Audit finance solution and its integration with rest of Enterprise Application ecosystem to drive ongoing enhancements, upgrades and integration effort.
  • Enables rationalization of in-scope applications thru the execution of the strategic roadmap, which enables the right technology solution in a less complex environment.
  • Partner with other Finance BTS leads in the execution of project development for Finance cross-functional application to ensure smooth adoption of new technology-based solutions and avoid impact to already implemented functionality.
  • Identifying, proposing and initiating significant system and process improvement programs across Finance business area(s), establishing technical requirements for the implementation of significant changes in technology and processes.
  • Proactively seeking out and collaborating with assigned functional business area (s) and IT leaders on strategic business opportunities.
  • Working directly with business unit clients to understand existing and changing business processes and business strategies.
  • Analyzing and documenting business processes; identifying alternative solutions, assessing feasibility and making recommendations to harmonize and strategically leverage new or existing IT investments in conjunction with Enterprise Architecture. Manages stakeholder's perceptions with all AbbVie IT services.


Major Responsibilities :

The IT Manager - Tax and Internal Audit Systems will be a leader within Finance Systems BTS organization to drive end-to-end technology oversight and governance to cross-functional applications within Tax and Internal Audit. This position will work closely with business and other technology partners resources to help drive process definition and standardization, optimization and solution fit.
  • Works with a matrixed team of Business and BTS resources and to ensure the efficient operation of the assigned function. Acts as the voice of customer within broader IT organization
  • Prepares and presents project proposals to management and business partner departments for assigned area.
  • Develops subject matter expertise in overall Tax and Internal Audit solutions and its integration with rest of Enterprise Applications ecosystem to drive ongoing enhancements, upgrades and integration effort.
  • Ensures technical support for production issue resolution meets business needs, making changes to process as needed.
  • Maintains awareness of projects or changes to other systems that may affect their applications/systems, and ensures there is no degradation of service.
  • Acts as a key IT solution advisor to project teams working on systems/applications of the most complex nature (typically crossing functional lines), providing unique insights, new research and novel approaches; ensures applications/systems fully meet business needs and all variables have been considered.
  • Reviews the work performed across teams to identify commonalities and possible integration; shares learned best practices with others; leads teams to create best practices.
  • Develops strong business relationships and demonstrates business process knowledge expertise. Manages relationships between clients and other IT organizations to assure effective communication between the groups is occurring. Brokers services within IT community on behalf of customers; coordinates portfolio of solutions, and identifies interdependencies. Allies with other IT functional areas to remain current on project status, and inform functional clients of progress; conversely, keeps IT managers aware of user issues and resolves conflicts. Establishes and maintains productive relationships with all levels in AbbVie IT organization and with external partners.

Procedural and Policy Compliance :
Responsible for compliance with applicable Corporate and Divisional policies and procedures. Participates in setting policies and procedures. Establishes and maintains high-quality relationships with all levels across the company and with external partners.

Accountability and Scope
:
Operates with broad goals and objectives. Accountable for solution recommendations, the accuracy of the fit of the proposed business process improvements and the information upon which the business justification and prioritization decisions are made. Also accountable for communicating the business need and drivers to IT groups to assure the implementation phase can fulfill the business need. Will be consulted for technical design/development input decisions as needed for functional area or across functional integrations.

  • 15+ years of overall IT experience, including 10+ years Finance systems implementation experience; systems and business consulting in the area of Finance including employee development and strategic technology roadmap.
  • Strong experience required with Enterprise Resource Planning Systems (SAP knowledge preferred) and specialized finance applications for Tax systems
  • Clear understanding of core financial business processes and leading industry technologies to address Finance requirements taking in consideration AbbVie's Finance system landscape
  • Knowledge of applicable regulations and financial standards (SOX) affecting Pharmaceutical Products (e.g. 21 CFR Part11, Annex11, cGMP) specifically.
  • Ability to coordinate cross-functional work teams toward goal/objective completion.
  • Effective leadership and analytical skills including coordination across functional and technical teams
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task.
  • Strong problem resolution skills.

  • Operational Accounting
  • Tax Accounting


Social behaviors: International function that requires good communication and respecting different cultures, traveling and the motivation of colleagues spread over the different locations

Education Requirements:
  • Required: Bachelor degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Engineering or equivalent experience or a discipline closely related to the business area served
  • Preferred: Master degree in Business Administration or Computer Science
  • Preferred: CPA certification
