Summary:
The Senior Director, Customer Insights will be responsible for overseeing and managing the design, implementation and analysis of market research to drive actionable insights across all Commercial Business Units. The role will require a strong understanding of how and when to utilize specific market research methodologies to drive commercial strategy and brand planning. The Senior Director, Customer Insights will be experienced in market research relative to multi-faceted and strategic approaches that help reveal what a marketplace (or multiple marketplaces) truly looks like in terms of demographics, competitors and trends. In addition, the Senior Director, Customer Insights will need insights experience pertaining to why customers behave in certain ways based on variables and factors, such as brand perception, and relevant marketing messages. The ideal candidate will be able to integrate Customer Insights findings with analytics and business intelligence outputs, work effectively with business partners and help advance innovative market research capabilities at Regeneron.

Responsibilities:
Research Plan
1) Has keen ability to diagnose/redefine business issues that underlie "reactive" ad hoc requests, so activities always maintain right balance of strategic insights versus tactical response management
2) Can develop a comprehensive plan to inform key business issues and set research agenda accordingly (e.g. long-term, annual, short-term issue specific) integrating primary MR, secondary source data and analytics

Methods and Practices:
3) Effectively leads and coaches team to extract deep customer insight versus delivering MR findings only. Drives progression of knowledge across discrete MR projects and demonstrates ability to augment similar learnings from other I&A verticals (BI, Analytics).
4) Ensures that I&A maintains and strives to incorporate best in class practices and standards using innovative methodologies & techniques. Proactively identifies, leads and sponsors initiatives to incorporate Best Practice frameworks/capabilities including leveraging digital or emerging technologies like social media monitoring, digital patient journeys, rapid read MR and real-time result delivery using AI/machine learning approaches, alternatives to traditional MR practices to yield more effective insights (e.g. Eye Tracking instead of traditional message testing, etc.).

Research Design and Execution:
5) Has ability to synthesize, "package" and visualize data to identify opportunities, create actionable insights and knowledge - can think strategically and creatively - can see both the "big picture" without compromising important detail. Effective at data curation and storytelling, and sets this culture for the team to emulate.

Analysis, Insights & Knowledge:
6) Demonstrates breakthrough thinking in uncovering customer insights and knowledge - is viewed by stakeholders as a valuable strategic business partner capable of positively impacting the business. Able to leverage this equity to create "seat-at-the-table" opportunities for the broader team.
7) Can effectively and objectively lead workshops and communicate with key stakeholders to ensure pull through of data-driven decisions into business decisions; provides insights voice of the customer to business/executives.
8) Is not overdependent on business partners/alliance partners to the extent that it compromises an independent REGN point-of-view on design/method/implications from shared MR studies.
Requirements:
- BA/BS required and a minimum of 15 years in Pharmaceutical, Biotech, or health care related industry with a minimum of 10 years in health care market research with specific experience in survey design, data analysis (including secondary data), managing suppliers, managing subordinates, presenting results, and recommending courses of action that are supported by research findings.
- Demonstrated success in using market research to inform and influence important business decisions, particularly in the area of new product launches.
- US and Global experience with new drug launch required.
- Experience managing other researchers required.
- Experience in biologic drugs including Oncology and Rheumatology or specialty pharmaceuticals

Preferred Experience:
- PhD and MBA degrees desired but not required.
- Experience in multiple therapeutic areas.
- Alliance or co-promotion experience strongly.
- Experience on client and consulting side.
