The Technology Development Group is seeking an enthusiastic and driven Research Associate to develop improved genome editing technologies and methods.  The Candidate will interact closely with Caribou Scientists to develop cell handling protocols for use with novel gene editing tool. Primary responsibilities will be the culture and transfection of mammalian cells with ribonucleoprotein (RNP) complexes, and analysis of next generation sequencing (NGS) data from in cell editing experiments. A successful candidate will have extensive hands-on experience with mammalian cell culture, be familiar with various transfection methods with various material types and have an understanding of published genome editing work. The ideal candidate will contribute to the discovery and development of novel immune cell therapeutics currently in pre-clinical development.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Mammalian cell culture, including isolation, culture and manipulation of primary cells
  • Generation and characterization of genetically modified immune cells
  • Assay development and implementation of gene-editing technologies in primary cells
  • Immune cell biology-based assay development and implementation in the context of an allogeneic CAR-T preclinical program

Candidate must possess:

  • B.Sc. or equivalent in Cell Biology, Biochemistry, Bioengineering, or Molecular Biology
  • Minimum of 2-3 years’ experience working in either Academic Laboratories or the Biotech Industry
  • Broad experience in mammalian cell culture and transfection of multiple cell types
  • Understanding of genome editing technologies
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to stay abreast of current literature
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Additional positives:

  • Experience optimizing and developing transfection protocols
  • Understanding of DNA repair mechanism and pathways
  • Experience designing low and medium throughput screens
  • Familiarity running FACS analysis for cell surface phenotyping
