Amgen is seeking a Sr. Associate, Planning and Operations at its headquarters in Thousand Oaks, Ca. to join the Corporate Engineering function.This individual will report the Sr. Manager, Strategic Planning and Operations.The role will work with key stakeholders to lead, track and support key projects and initiatives enabling Engineering's ability to meet year over year productivity targets. The Sr. Associate is responsible for The role will also work with and support cross-functional transformation initiatives to improve corporate Engineering's capabilities

Responsibilities
  • Lead and/or support key projects across the organization and cross-functionally
  • Monitor and track progress of Engineering's key initiatives and communicate status to Engineering's leadership monthly
  • Support maintaining project and initiative portfolio resource allocation
  • Provide regular reports and presentations that clearly summarize analytical results and implications/recommendations to key stakeholders to inform decision making
  • Serve on Engineering's Continuous Improvement Core Team
  • Work with internal and external stakeholders to develop and execute mitigation plans, when needed, to reach department goals and critical milestones


Basic Qualifications:

Master's Degree OR

Bachelor's Degree and 2 years project management experience Or

Associates Degree and 6 years project management experience Or

High school diploma / GED and 8 years of project management experience

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in Engineering or MBA
  • Experience in Pharmaceutical and/or Biotechnology industries
  • Project management experience leading teams, projects, programs or directing the allocation of resources
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively lead and partner in a complex, matrix environment
  • Lean or Six Sigma Green Belt certification
  • Strong project management skills, capable of developing technical solutions to a wide range of business opportunities
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
  • Ability to tactfully negotiate and positively influence peers and key stakeholders
  • Effective in action-oriented scoping and execution including the support of translating strategy into actionable objectives with measurable targets
  • Experience with applying Lean or process improvement methodologies
  • Experience with Microsoft suite of tools including, excel, power point, word, visio and project
