The Director of Global Commercial Operations Information Systems is responsible for developing and implementing the technology strategy, products and services for the Amgen's global commercial functions, including Product Strategy & Commercial Innovation; Value, Access & Policy; Government Affairs; and Corporate Affairs. The Director is also accountable for delivery of global technology products and platforms that enable regional technology teams to effectively execute local market strategies across US, EU, Intercontinental and JAPAC regional business operations.

This leader is accountable for technology operations, development and long range investment planning across global commercial processes. Success involves close collaboration with functional leaders and teams and technology thought leadership to better serve Amgen's patients within a rapidly changing biotechnology market.

Responsibilities:
  • Partner with leadership teams in global commercial functions to develop and implement effective technology and data strategies that better serve patients and other healthcare market stakeholders - physicians, nurses, payors, etc.
  • Develop, operate and continuously innovate technology products leveraged by Amgen's global commercial functions, including platforms like Amazon Web Services, SalesForce and SiteCore,
  • Deliver global products and services that enable regional commercial technology teams to implement local market strategies.
  • Collaborate across Amgen functions to influence and deliver long range investment plans.
  • Evangelize current and emerging technology capabilities to maximize use and adoption of best practices across business functions.
  • Establish external networks and engage as appropriate to ensure strategies are developed with appropriate consideration of environmental factors, competitive intelligence and/or awareness of new possibilities offered by information technology.
  • Liaise and partner across technology teams to deliver cross-functional initiatives
  • Serve as a role model for Amgen leadership behaviors.
  • Provide leadership for the development of future IS leadership (both technical and management) at Amgen through the creation and execution of both annual performance management and individual talent developmental plans.
  • Serve as a mentor to high potential Amgen employees with potential for accelerated development.


Basic Qualifications:

Doctorate degree and 4 years of Information Systems experience
OR
Master's degree and 8 years of Information Systems experience
OR
Bachelor's degree and 10 years of Information Systems experience
AND
4 years of managerial experience directly managing people and/or leadership experience leading teams, projects, programs or directing the allocation of resources

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline, advanced degree in technology (Engineering, IT, CS) or business management.
  • Excellent executive level influencing skills, with demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and effectively with key business partners, technology leadership teams, and external services providers.
  • Demonstrated ability for strategic technology planning and roadmap development.
  • Familiarity / experience with the following technologies and solutions: CRM, customer service operations and call center technology, data analytics, reporting and presentation tools, and multi-modal information / data dissemination and presentation (e.g. web, mobile etc.).
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively collaborate across a matrix organization.
  • Strong organizational, planning and financial management skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills; ability to work effectively with all levels of staff and management.
  • Understanding of health care compliance requirements and principles.
  • Working knowledge of LEAN/AGILE software development methodologies.
  • Experience in enhancing organizational talent through staff development.
  • Strong influence and leadership skills, ability to operate across boundaries (internally/externally)
  • Ability to translate strategies into tangible pragmatic executable plans
  • Experience in the pharmaceutical and/or healthcare industry
  • Organizational change management and project management skills
