Job Summary:

Amgen is searching for an Accounting Manager on its Global Accounting team supporting our Global Accounting Consolidations and Master Data Management areas. This role will report to the Senior Manager, Global Accounting, and will be located in Thousand Oaks, CA.

This Accounting Manager will play a key role in executing on accounting and reporting activities and ensuring compliance in the areas under Consolidations and Master Data Management.

Primary responsibilities will include the following:
  • Manage the outsourced & off-shore accounting service provider team to complete the month-end/quarter-end accounting close & consolidations process, to prepare and review the accounting close package (including internal financial statements and various financial analysis), and to ensure financial controls and quality standards are met.
  • Interact and work with the various global, functional accounting teams to facilitate monthly and quarterly close review with management, coordinate quarterly key accounting processes such as accounting estimates and accounting resolutions review, and coordinate other key processes, such as the semi-annual balance sheet reviews
  • Manage and/or support routine accounting items based on US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, including cash flow statement preparation and foreign currency translation.
  • Provide audit support to internal and external auditors and mange financial and SOX audits.
  • Perform required activities as the SAP financial system business owner.
  • Take initiative, analyze current process and lead business review meetings. Be able to identify control risks and process improvement opportunities.


Basic Qualifications:

Doctorate degree

OR

Master's degree AND 2 years of finance experience

OR

Bachelor's degree AND 4 years of finance experience

OR

Associate's degree AND 10 years of finance experience

Preferred Qualifications:
  • 4+ years of corporate or public accounting experience
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
  • Audit or Big 4 Public Accounting experience
  • Comprehensive accounting knowledge on Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Strong written, verbal communication, and presentation skills and be able to bridge culture differences
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently and ability to multi-task and establish priorities
  • Strong project management skills
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint
  • Proficient in SAP ECC and BCS Consolidations Systems
  • Experience with SAP and BW, Hyperion, EDW applications
  • Industry Experience
