MBA Intern - Finance & Strategy Leadership Development Program (Summer 2019)

Amgen's Master of Business Administration (MBA) Internship in the Finance & Strategy Leadership Development Program (FSLDP) is an important source of full-time hires for the Finance functions. Summer interns will be assigned a project within a function i.e., Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A), Treasury, Business Development, Strategy, Tax, Audit. Projects are timely and relevant in supporting Amgen's strategic and tactical goals and provide exposure to the cross-functional nature of a full-time role. Past projects have examined a potential biosimilar product entry, internal asset allocation strategies, emerging market entry strategies and improvements to sourcing and supplier management.

Responsibilities for the 10-12 week internship typically include financial analysis, benchmarking, and market research to develop key strategic recommendations. Interns are given access to senior leadership through a series of lunches and are encouraged to spend the summer participating in program activities and networking with staff across the organization. In addition, interns will participate in a week-long cross-functional case study project that will expose them to different aspects of Amgen's business operations. Limited relocation housing and/or transportation allowance may be available for eligible candidates.

Basic Qualifications

Amgen requires that all individuals applying for an internship or a co-op assignment at Amgen must meet the following criteria:

18 years or older

Graduated with a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university with a 3.0 minimum GPA or equivalent

Completion as a first year graduate student before internship starts and currently enrolled in an MBA program for an MBA internship OR a Master's program for a Master's internship OR a PharmD program for a PharmD internship OR PhD for a PhD internship from an accredited college or university

Enrolled in an accredited college or university following the potential internship or co-op assignment

Must not be employed at the time the internship starts

Preferred Qualifications

In process of completing the first year of a Master of Business Administration program

Undergraduate GPA of 3.3 or higher

Three or more years of experience in performing sophisticated financial modeling

Biotechnology, pharmaceutical or health care industry experience

Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills

Strong oral and written communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills, and the ability to interact well with all levels of management

Strong leadership ability and a team player
