The Sr Associate, Contract & Pricing Analytics is a key member of Strategic Pricing and Contracting (SPC). SPC is a part Amgen's US Value & Access organization and is responsible for the commercial and government pricing and contracting activities for a book of business in excess of $20 Billion annually. As a member of the team, the Sr Associate, Contract & Pricing Analytics is central to ensuring Amgen's success in the Government and Commercial Healthcare Markets including Medicaid and Medicare.

This position will be responsible for developing and executing critical analyses to support strategy, analytics, and insights functions within Commercial and Government Programs. This role interacts cross functionally with Provider Contracting, Payer Contracting, Brand Marketing, Government Affairs, Trade & Distribution, Business Unit Leadership, Finance, Accounting, and Legal.

Key Job Responsibilities
  • Builds and executes reports using analytical tools to measure performance of both commercial and government contracts.
  • Executes analytical models for the portfolio of products in support of discount analyses.
  • Document policies, procedures, risks-controls, and findings.
  • Lead internal and external teams to support testing of datasets, change management, and data validation in support of projects across the Strategic Pricing & Contracting organization.
  • Support key projects, such as Platform upgrades, maintenance and tool implementations with requirement gathering, documentation and testing.
  • Manage ad-hoc analyses, such as pricing specific data queries, generating data-driven business insights, visualizations and recommendations.
  • Works cross functionally with commercial contracting, global commercial operations IS, and business unit teams to optimize the gross to net impact of strategies on the government pricing calculations.
  • Serves as a catalyst for change by identifying, leading, and executing transformational projects for the organization.
  • Seeks to democratize analytical tools and data sets in order to empower business partners.
  • Routinely interacts with cross functional peers, committees, and teams.
  • Champions and influences organizational change and education through daily behavior.


Basic Qualifications

Master's degree and 2 years of experience in either government pricing, commercial contracting and/or pricing, finance, accounting, or sales operations

OR

Bachelor's degree and 4 years of experience in either government pricing, commercial contracting and/or pricing, analytics, forecasting, consulting, finance, FP&A, accounting, or sales operations

OR

Associate's degree and 7 years of experience in either government pricing, commercial contracting and/or pricing, analytics, forecasting, consulting, finance, FP&A, accounting, or sales operations

OR

High school diploma / GED and 10 years of experience in either government pricing, commercial contracting and/or pricing, analytics, forecasting, consulting, finance, FP&A, accounting, or sales operations

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience solving complex business problems and managing analytics projects. Experience in pharmaceutical/biotech environment. Demonstrated track record of increasing responsibility.


  • Exceptional analytical capabilities. Excellent conceptual problem solving skills with demonstrated ability to bring structure to vaguely defined problems, pragmatically scope problem solving approach, and successfully execute solutions.
  • Experience in SQL Databases, Python, APIs, ETL and transformation technologies.


  • Extensive experience with Excel and other analytical toolsets (e.g., Tableau, Alteryx, Databricks, Oracle, Redshift).


  • Proven ability to execute effectively in a highly fluid, interactive, matrixed environment; demonstrated ability to successfully execute against multiple simultaneous requirements and drive tasks to completion.


  • Experience in modeling, analyzing and validating large quantities of data transactions and drawing conclusions from that analysis.


  • Deep interest in navigating evolving and fluid marketplaces with specific interest on the interactions between Government and Healthcare.


  • Experience in Government and Commercial Pricing and Contracting.


  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
