Amgen is seeking an Environment, Health, Safety and Sustainability (EHSS) Senior Associate to support our drive for world class EHSS performance at the Amgen Capability Center (ACC). The Senior Associate will report to the Director EH&S and will work out of our Amgen Capability Center in Tampa, FL. The successful candidate will assist with key office-based safety programs and partnering with clients to advance safety culture and manage EHSS risks.

The ideal candidate will have a broad understanding of EHSS disciplines and be able to support general office related EHSS program management and assist site staff with occupational health and safety issues and concerns. They will work with Global EHSS subject matter experts to develop a robust EHSS program at the ACC. Experience is required in the following disciplines to develop robust programs at the ACC location:
  • Ergonomics
  • Fire life safety and evacuation
  • Office Risk Assessment
  • Incident Investigation
  • Environmental Compliance and Sustainability


Primary responsibilities include:

Program Support:
  • Develop and implement an ergonomics program across the campus focused on workplace ergonomic risk factors, assessment and mitigation
  • Promote the use of the Amgen incident reporting system (INCA) to encourage staff to report unsafe behaviors, conditions, and incidents.
  • Lead the investigation of all workplace incidents to determine root cause and develop actions to prevent reoccurrence
  • Coordinate any indoor air quality concerns through risk assessment and monitoring. Liaise with global subject matter experts where required
  • Use data trending techniques to analyze site specific data and communicate meaningful information across the ACC
  • Provide EHSS training to all ACC personal, including, staff on-boarding, ergonomics, evacuation, workplace inspection, situational awareness
  • Assist with completion and submission of environmental permits and reports
  • Communications and branding. Use digital messaging platforms to communicate meaningful data trends as determined through data analysis
  • Develop and support a sustainability program including messaging across the ACC


Client Support:
  • Partner with ACC management to drive world class EHSS performance.
  • Execute safety culture program to integrate EHSS as part of day to day client operations.
  • Ensure all changes with potential EHSS impact are assessed and controls are established prior to implementation
  • Ensure all hazards are identified and risks are proactively assessed
  • Conduct regular inspections of the work areas

Liaisons:
  • Accountable to Global EHSS Director
  • Dotted line to Sr. Manager HR
  • Frequently interact with Global EHSS Team


Basic Qualifications:

Master's degree
OR
Bachelor's degree and 2 years of directly related experience
OR
Associate's degree and 6 years of directly related experience
OR
High school diploma / GED and 8 years of directly related experience

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Trained ergonomist
  • Knowledge of US and FL regulations as they pertain to office-based operations
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, action oriented, self starting, program development and project management.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer software systems.
