Amgen is seeking a motivated, self-starter with a focus on staff engagement, internal communications, community engagement and external relations. This position will be part of the corporate affairs & site operations teams at the Amgen Capability Center. The position will consist of working on various projects to support internal communications, external relations, community outreach, staff engagement and working with the overall ACC Team to support communications processes across the functional areas of Employee Services, Finance and Information Systems.

The Senior Associate Site Communications and Staff Engagement will report to the Corporate Affairs Manager and will work out of Amgen's Capability Center in Tampa, FL. This state-of-the-art center serves as a base for finance, information systems, and human resources professionals to make a meaningful impact at one of the world's leading biotechnology companies.

Tasks Include:
  • Support the Corporate Affairs & Site Operations teams on key site wide communications, event management and site relations projects
  • Draft internal site communications
  • Leverage internal social media tools to promote projects and feedback
  • Develop marketing materials
  • Assist with projects that improve the operational effectiveness of the organization
  • Help organize events and prepare promotional presentations
  • Participate in Corporate Affairs events and activities
  • Support the Engagement Council, Diversity Council and site ERGs with event planning and communications
  • Support external Amgen clients, visitors and guest speakers with meeting management

    Basic Qualifications:

    Master's degree
    OR
    Bachelor's degree and 2 years of Communications or Marketing experience
    OR
    Associate's degree and 6 years of Communications or Marketing experience
    OR
    High school diploma / GED and 8 years of Communications or Marketing experience

    Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing or related field
  • 2 - 3 years' experience in corporate communications, including internal communications and community relations
  • Excellent writing skills - able to distill complex, technical and lengthy topics into simple, short and compelling communications
  • Strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills with ability to work in teams and partner and collaborate across functions
  • Ability to generate creative approaches and solutions through knowledge of communication tools and techniques and various channels
  • High degree of accuracy, attention to detail and quality control
  • Demonstrated project management and organizational skills
  • Demonstrated initiative (self-starting)
  • Ability to think creatively.
  • Continuous improvement mindset; passionate about learning and seeking out opportunities to advance and enhance
