This position has a key role in driving this mission by leading all direct-to-consumer (DTC) marketing efforts for Enbrel® in the U.S. The Director will lead a team of senior managers and managers responsible for developing communications from insight identification to concept, from concept to development, and from development to launch. This individual will also oversee media and activation from strategic planning to execution, including the analysis of results that informs insight and data-based recommendations. These key aspects of the role will involve delivering compelling messages to the right consumers in the right medium across the patient journey. The role will report to the Executive Director, Enbrel® Patient Engagement. This critical role at Amgen provides a tremendous opportunity to work on Enbrel®, at over $4 billion in sales one of the largest pharmaceutical brands in the world and an original innovation in the world of biologics. In this role you will collaborate with a wide range of internal and external partners to help Enbrel® patients start and stay on treatment. As the marketing leader you will manage several initiatives to flawless execution in the short term as well as drive innovation and capabilities that will set the brand up for success in the mid to long term. You will use strategic thinking, leadership, collaboration, and serve as a true champion for the consumer.

Specific responsibilities:
  • Lead communications strategy - work with market research and agency partners to uncover deep insights and translate them to consumer-compelling creative and messaging that is well integrated across channels.
  • Lead media strategy - oversee planning and placement across key channels including TV, print, point-of-care, digital, social media, patient education, and PR.
  • Manage day-to-day oversight of creative and media agencies as well as publisher relationships.
  • Manage, coach, and develop direct reports and serve as mentor to other marketers.
  • Collaborate with key partners including HCP marketing, Access, Corporate Communications, Operational teams, and Business Analytics & Insight to ensure synergy with programming for healthcare professionals, customers, and consumers.
  • Represent team in organizational-level initiatives designed to drive new capabilities and share best practices to more effectively reach consumers.
  • Manage the internal legal, regulatory, and medical review and approval of new materials to enable responsible and compliant consumer communications.
  • Manage budgets and closely monitor performance to meet brand goals and objectives, ensuring cost-effective delivery of all programs.
  • Domestic travel up to 20%.


Basic Qualifications:
  • Doctorate degree and 4 years of marketing experience

OR
  • Master's degree and 7 years of marketing experience

OR
  • Bachelor's degree and 9 years of marketing experience


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Strong marketing acumen with a solid grasp of marketing strategy, market research, segmentation, brand positioning, and tactical plan development.
  • Experience marketing directly to consumers, with a preference for pharmaceutical or regulated consumer goods or services.
  • Track record of successfully developing and executing a wide range of successful online and offline tactics, including digital, print, video, and CRM. Television experience. .
  • Experience working with advertising agencies to develop and produce engaging creative.
  • Experience working with media agencies and publishers to develop, measure, and optimize, effective media plans.
  • Ability to translate market research into effective consumer campaigns or programs. Previous experience with clinical data.
  • Experience leading high-performing teams as well as coaching and developing individual talent.
  • Strong bias for action and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Passion to understand marketplace dynamics and apply deep insights to delight consumers by best addressing their needs.
  • Demonstrated ability to build productive partnerships and collaborate effectively in a matrix organization.
  • Strong judgment and commitment to live up to the highest ethical standards.
  • Excellent communication skills and self-awareness of leadership style.
