Role Overview:

Effective management of post-launch changes to Amgen's products "variations" is critical. This is especially true given the continued forecasted growth in Amgen's product portfolio and international expansion. Drivers of product change are quite varied and include but are not limited to: response to patient safety issues, regulatory commitments, addressing supply requirements, manufacturing network strategy, commercial or regional strategy, labeling changes, and operational excellence projects.

The Supply Chain Manager, Variation Portfolio Analytics and Planning will serve as a leader supporting Amgen's portfolio of variations. The position is great opportunity to further establish and build the capability to support the end-to-end product variation process and variation portfolio health. Holistically, this group is focused on robust project, portfolio, and process management for variations to capture and accelerate the value of change to our commercial products.

The scope of the product variation process directionally includes: business case approval for a change, variation portfolio prioritization, change control, supply and submission planning, content authoring, publishing, submission, and approval from global regulatory agencies.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Own and enhance variation portfolio planning capabilities to maximize value for Amgen, including:
    • Variation portfolio in Planisware and key project details
    • Resource capacity management model which can be used to forecast and optimize workload across the variation lifecycle
    • Scenario analytics capability to identify and recommend optimized plan for executing against variation portfolio to maximize value drivers for patients, staff, and shareholders
    • Develop & track key portfolio metrics
  • Support VMO team leader drive prioritization decisions and governance process for the variation portfolio through prioritization preparation and attending the VPG
  • Identify key capacity and resource constraints and escalate for resolution
  • Engage closely with Process Owners, Variation Leads, Functional, and Regional partners; collaborate to perform analysis, communicate and ensure alignment on priority decisions
  • Drive continuous improvement for product variation process and portfolio health through close engagement with cross-functional stakeholders and Process Owners
  • Drive performance management through thorough understanding of the Variation portfolio and Planisware
  • Establish and lead a cross-function forum on Product Variation focused on continuous improvement
  • Represent VMO on the Planisware operational teams as the Business Owner for Product Variation (PV) module


Periodic travel to sites required up to 10%.

Basic Qualifications:
  • Doctorate degree OR
  • Master's degree and 2 years of Operations or Regulatory experience
  • Bachelor's degree and 4 years of Operations or Regulatory experience
  • Associate's degree and 10 years of Operations or Regulatory experience
  • High school diploma / GED and 12 years of Operations or Regulatory experience


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Able to successfully manage workload to timelines; basic project management skills
  • Able to facilitate and influence senior clients and partners
  • Advanced analytical skills
  • Strong analytical skills and experience with resource and capacity management, and portfolio planning
  • Excellent conceptual problem solving/strategy skills with demonstrated ability to bring structure to vaguely defined problems, pragmatically scope problem solving approach, and manage execution
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams, consistently deliver on-time, and high-quality results. Collaborates and communicates well with others
  • Ability to operate in a matrixed or team environment with site, functional, and executive leadership
  • Experience driving decision making using DAI principles
  • Collaborates and communicates well with others, able to balance divergent inputs from various stakeholders and drive issue resolution
  • Demonstrated experience with processes associated with managing post filing and post approval changes (e.g. technical, supply chain, and / or regulatory activities)
