This Director Finance position reports to the Regional Finance Executive Director (Intercontinental), works in teams with global functional leaders in Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A), Global Business Services (GBS), Tax, Treasury, and Accounting and manages the Finance & Accounting (F&A) Hub for Latin America and Canada (LACAN).

The Intercontinental Region (IC) is comprised of Brazil, Canada, Colombia, Dubai, Mexico, South Africa and Turkey.


• Manages Financial Planning Calendar

• Manages the coordination and preparation of regional forecasts and budgets

• Produces HQ related OPEX Budget, as well as business partnering for all HQ functions

• FP&A partnering for Latin America Distributors operations (Revenue Planning and Internal Control ownership)

• Provides regional recommendations to affiliates based on analysis of deviations from budgets

• Provides leadership, consultancy and financial support to various company functions, teams and departments

• Acts as link between Corporate Finance, Global Commercial Operations (GCO) Finance, Regional HQ and Affiliates

• Manages the regional reporting processes (analytical management)

• Accountable for country/regional finance and business teams for providing pan-regional support of shared service activity across all finance functions: Accounting, FP&A, Tax, Treasury.

• Recruits and manages ~20 finance generalist staff covering the Regional Consolidation FP&S team and one Finance Shared Service in Latin America; combination of solid and dotted line management

• Plays a major role in influencing global and regional finance policies to ensure integrity of controls and push accountability for services to the right level in the organization

Responsibilities & Key Activities

• Serves as a key link between Global Finance counterparts (GBS, Accounting, Tax, etc.) and local finance teams

• Responsible for business support in a timely, regionally focused way, including maintaining a staff of highly skilled and multilingual finance professionals

• Leads business planning and decision-making processes; ensures all required financial analysis, modelling of "what if" scenarios is provided at country and regional level

• Ensures timely production of regional monthly forecasts of sales trends in coordination with business analysts;

• Oversees monitoring of actual and forecasted cost and revenues (on a regional monthly, quarterly and annual basis)

• Coordinates and consolidates regional budget, latest estimate and variance analysis

• Leads long-term planning support activities

• Analyzes and prepares reports to the parent company

• Ensures all company data is collected, derived and consolidated data from all departments to produce reliable forecasting and plans

• Ensures efficient processes and procedures are in place to monitor contracts (insurances, leasing, rents, etc.)

• Leads F&A projects across the region

• Communicates and provides direction to countries about financial trends and their business implications

• Provides decision support to various stakeholders (Business Units, project teams, functions)

• Periodic operating reviews of controls and processes across all IC region affiliates

• Be the "face" of global finance support functions for IC affiliate teams

• Ensure nimble, controllable, scalable processes to support aggressive growth plans in line with Corporate Strategy

• Optimizes decisions across the varied needs of internal and external stakeholders including customers, vendors, Amgen finance staff and Amgen commercial affiliate staff

• Maintain culture of continuous improvement including future optimization opportunities

Basic Qualifications:

Doctorate degree and 4 years of finance experience


Master's degree and 8 years of finance experience


Bachelor's degree and 10 years of finance experience


4 years of managerial experience directly managing people and/or leadership experience leading teams, projects, programs or directing the allocation of resources

Preferred Qualifications:

- CPA or other Finance degree/accreditation.


- Strong background across all areas of finance (FP&A, Controllership, accounting, tax, Treasury)

- Skilled in leading and influencing

- Experience in startup operations and/or building a finance department

- Local entity CFO experience

- Ability to communicate effectively in English both verbally and in writing

- Language skills in other languages (Spanish, Portuguese)
