These positions are in Medical Analytics in Tarrytown, NY. There are 3 positions for Summer 2019. Each opening is described below.

Position 1:
The student will be hands-on on data from a large scale cardiovascular outcome clinical trial as well as available real word data to explore various types of biomarkers that can be used for prognostic or predictive purposes as well as identifying modifiable biomarkers that may explain the mechanism of action of a therapy. The student will also have opportunities to apply the cutting edge statistical methodologies and computational algorithms, such as statistical and machine learning, joint modeling, and simulation, to identify and validate a panel of biomarkers for various functions.

To qualify for this position, candidate should have knowledge of statistical methods, be able to independently analyze data, perform research to complete assigned task, as well as be proficient in performing statistical analyses using SAS or R. From this internship, the student will gain skills of thinking independently, analyzing problems with attention to detail, and solving problems creatively, most importantly learn to collaborate effectively with mentor and colleagues within teams.

Position 2:
The intern will benefit from exposure to real-world applied problems in the pharmaceutical industry within the Medical Affairs setting, and contribute their knowledge and talent by providing state-of-the-art analytical methodology and statistical and data science programming skills in order to facilitate further understanding and characterization of Regeneron products and promote continued innovations in Medical Affairs Medical Analytics.

The intern will be engaged in developing new statistical and data science programming methods and applications to address research questions posed by Regeneron Medical Affairs Medical Analytics. This includes complex data processing algorithms, implementation of statistical procedures, development of flexible standard macros, data visualization, etc. Emphasis will be placed on developing reusable, scalable, robust, flexible, meta-data driven analysis programs using SAS starting with defining appropriate input parameters, data standards to outputting usable, interpretable displays and/or other outputs.

In particular, we would like to explore predictive models to understand patient characteristics that may predict treatment response. This project will focus more on practical implementation though a strong background in the theoretical methods will be necessary. We will start with classical modeling methods in addition to other methods including classification tree, machine learning, etc.

To qualify for this position, candidate should have/be able to: Solid background and skills in statistical and data science methodologies, tools, and practices; Proficient with SAS (including SAS macros and graphics capabilities); Analyze statistical questions, proactively propose creative solutions, use sound judgment and innovate; Collaborate effectively with mentor and colleagues within the Regeneron Medical Affairs organization.

Position 3:

The intern will be engaged in developing new analytical methods based on statistical questions from Regeneron studies and real world evidence study database by evaluating new methods proposed in the literature, novel applications of existing methodology, or sensitivity analyses and simulations to determine the robustness of proposed standard methods.

In particular, this project will explore statistical methods in the area of causal inference and propensity score and inverse propensity weighting.

To qualify for this position, candidate should have/be able to: Solid background and skills in using the above stated statistical methodologies (causal inference, propensity score matching and inverse propensity weighting); Proficient with information display via SAS graphic tools; Analyze statistical questions presented, generate creative solutions, use sound judgment and innovate; In-depth understanding of intrinsic/cohesive link between layers of information and dynamic graphic display for various types of endpoint; Collaborate effectively with mentor and colleagues within the Regeneron Medical Affairs organization.
