POSITION SUMMARY:
The Human Resources Business Partner, reporting to the Executive Vice President, Human Resources, will serve as a trusted advisor to the business in the areas of organizational development, talent management, performance management, employee engagement, talent acquisition, employee relations, and change leadership. 


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  
•    Serve as a full HR partner to the functional leaders, managers and employees within Rigel
•    Collaborate with leadership in developing  and driving strategies to engage employees and maintain an environment consistent with the Rigel culture and values
•    Support and pull through change management initiatives
•    Assist the management team of the client group in evaluating performance of individual team members and providing guidance on development
•    Serve as a coach and consultant to business leaders and employees on key organizational and management issues
•    Work with employees and managers across the organization to identify skill gaps and training needs, and deliver solutions that address those needs
•    Partner with company business leaders and other HR functional experts to create career paths, succession development plans and performance management plans that support the employees’ desire for professional growth, and the organization’s need to develop future leaders
•    Proactively identifies business needs and partners with HR and functional leaders to design, develop and implement solutions that meet identified needs.
•    Facilitate team development strategies and programs
•    Develop talent acquisition strategies to recruit top talent to Rigel
•    In partnership with the EVP of HR, the extended HR team and business leaders, build and maintain a strong employment brand
•    Be key expert in the organizational structure, individual functions and jobs
•    Partner with other functional experts in the HR department to develop and implement HR programs and initiatives in the client organization
•    Facilitate the consistent application and improvement of HR policies, processes, and programs
•    Ensure Rigel employment practices are compliant with employment regulations
•    Other duties as assigned
 
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:  
•    Bachelor’s degree or comparable experience
•    Minimum of 12 years of relevant business experience (with at least two years in an HR business partner role) with a primary focus on talent acquisition, talent development, performance management, employee engagement, employee relations, and change management
•    Experience in a pharmaceutical or life-sciences industry preferred
•    Requires solid knowledge and understanding of Human Resources legislation/employment law, principles, policies, and procedures
•    Must be able to exercise judgment and independently determine and take appropriate action in a variety of people related situations
•    Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence through listening, writing, and presenting. Demonstrated ability to coach employees and managers in sensitive situations
•    Must be able to develop solutions to a wide range of highly complex problems, which require an in depth degree of integrity, ingenuity, creativity, and innovation
•    Ability to link people and organizational practices to business objectives
•    Project-management skills and demonstrated commitment to delivering excellent results in a fast-paced environment
•    Ability to work collaboratively in a team, inspiring trust and confidence from HR colleagues and business-partner clients alike

•    Strong facilitation skills
•    Expertise in change management

•    PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand, walk; sit; talk and hear.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.  

•    WORK ENVIRONMENT:  The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.  Some travel may be required.
