Job Details

The Beckman Research Institute of City of Hope is looking for a talented Postdoctoral Fellow in the Department of Diabetes Immunology.  This candidate will contribute to a team committed to cure type 1 diabetes. In particular, the research plan is focused on the development of novel molecular therapeutics entities, aiming to target the autoimmune response and protect the insulin-producing cells from the inflammatory microenvironment.

This candidate will develop her/his work with Dr. Enrique Montero and Dr. Bart Roep.  This position is open in the Department of Diabetes Immunology, which was recently created within the Diabetes & Metabolism Research Institute at the City of Hope.  

Key Responsibilities include:

  • The candidate will have the unique opportunity of contributing to a translational research program and working with renowned specialists in the fields of immunology, diabetes, and biotechnology.

Basic education, experience and skills required for consideration:

  • A Ph.D. degree in life or biomedical sciences, or a related discipline is required.  
  • Experience in molecular immunology is needed.  
  • Candidates should have experience in cell culture, molecular biology, protein chemistry, monoclonal antibodies (mAbs) purification and conjugation, ELISA and flow cytometry.

Preferred education experience and skills:

  • Experience in lymphocyte function tests and immunohistochemistry are desirable.  
  • Notions on mAbs pharmacokinetics, bio distribution, immunogenicity and toxicology analysis in experimental models are a plus.
