US Commercial Business Technology Solutions (BTS) group is engaged with a cross functional team of Medical, Regulatory, Market Access, Commercial and HEOR to develop solutions that address unmet needs of external stakeholders. The role will be part of Commercial BTS, and will be vertically aligned with US Commercial Market Access organization. The role will be BTS's business relationship manager and will work with various IT functions and Commercial analytics partners to conceptualize, design and arrange an integrated planning and development of technology and data solutions for various market access functions.

The role will be a technology account executive, business relationship manager, and portfolio manager for Market access team. The role will lead a team of project managers and business systems analysts to identify and frame strategic and tactical needs of various market access functions.

The role will serve as a key point of contact for BTS and will be responsible for understanding brand strategies, for maintaining strategic portfolio for market access group, developing an implementation plan for various market access initiatives and will be responsible for developing subject matter expertise as well as capabilities roadmap for market access group. Some of the market access functions that the role will support are:
  • Develop solutions to help optimize Trade & Distribution channels
  • Working collaboratively with Pricing BTS, develop solutions for customer level transparency within GTN
  • Establish a demand plan for Key Account Management (KAM) and work with In Field effectiveness BTS team to execute KAM initiatives
  • Work collaboratively with HEOR, Medical Affairs and Commercial teams to plan and execute Value Base Engagement initiatives
  • Work with Patient Services BTS organization plan and develop Access & Reimbursement solutions for brand teams
  • Work with Payor Analytics organization to support data and technology needs for advanced payor analytics capabilities
  • Establishes a portfolio review framework with market access business to prioritize and govern BTS deliverables and solutions. Manage a portfolio of BTS initiatives by offering program management services ensuring on-time and on-budget delivery


Responsibilities

The areas of responsibilities will include:
  • Lead and advance the deployment & implementation of strategic initiatives for US Commercial Market access organization
  • Develop broader and deeper knowledge of market access functions and share subject matter expertise within BTS to deliver best in class solutions for market access group
  • Build and maintain capabilities roadmap for market access organization. Ensure alignment between evolving business needs and corporate technology strategies. Act as a trusted BTS partner for market access group
  • Build strategic portfolio planning framework and capabilities.
  • Leadership interaction across multiple functional organizations including Payor analytics, HEOR, Pricing, trade & distribution, KAM, legal, privacy and brand patient services teams will involve extensive collaboration with internal and external partners
  • Guide the identification and assessment of emerging technologies, and new technology partners. Ensure effective utilization of existing business systems and provide strong connectivity with existing core business processes. Working with US Commercial BTS organization, establish a market access portfolio strategy by leveraging existing data and technology capabilities already in use across AbbVie.
  • Work with BTS and business functions to anticipate resource needs and provide appropriate resources to execute the business priorities. Act as single point of contact for strategic planning process including Long Range Planning and Business Case preparation for market access group
  • Develop and prioritize portfolio of initiatives and direct a team to manage multiple project projects, project priorities, by anticipating risks and proactive communication. Develop comprehensive project estimates and timelines by soliciting input and collecting feedback from all impacted stakeholders.
  • Provide active coaching to appropriate project associates and work stream leaders. Supervise a matrix team of Project Managers, Architects, Business Systems Analysts, and Programmers on multi-million dollar strategic initiatives
  • Act with urgency and passion. Help others be successful. Work with minimal oversight; deliverables and relationships are monitored through periodic reviews.
  • Responsible for compliance with applicable AbbVie Policies and procedures.


  • Bachelor's Degree or an equivalent combination of education and work experience. A BS/BEng in relevant engineering or scientific area of study is preferred.
  • 12+ years of work experience including business analysis, project management, portfolio management, and strategic planning. Experience in developing and deploying cross functional business systems applications. 2+ years of experience managing or coaching employees.
  • 3+ years of pharmaceutical/healthcare experience. Any experience in Access & Reimbursement, Trade & Distribution channels, Market Access in Immunology or Oncology space, Gross To Net tactics, supporting Advanced Payor Analytics, or Value Based engagements is preferred. IT systems knowledge and experience across managed markets, brand marketing and sales management in the pharmaceutical, biotech, or related industry will be preferred
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with proven ability to building trust, listen, and ask effective questions. Strong analysis and analytical skills, strategic thinking and portfolio mgmt. skills are must. This role requires strong communication skills and the ability to take complex or ambiguous ideas and synthesize into clear and concise action.
  • Innovative thinking, ability to influence and the ability to leverage past experience to be successful in an entrepreneurial environment. Demonstrated ability to coach and mentor matrix teams.
  • Interest in technology trends and application of technology to improve end user's experience. Proven track record of effective project leadership and positive results. Ability to self-manage time and priorities.
  • Working knowledge of IT pricing and contracting practices. Negotiation with IT suppliers, Digital Health vendors and Marketing Agencies.
