Description: We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated individual who will do well in the vibrant environment of a startup company and who enjoys taking on new challenges. The candidate will be leading a new function responsible for cell line and cell culture development as well as support cell-based assays. This will require someone who has an ability to work independently and who can work on more than one project simultaneously. Candidate should be skilled with culture, expansion, preservation, and analysis of protein expression in mammalian cell lines, including gene optimization, transfection, single cell cloning and selection.

Role & Responsibilities:
- Plan experiments and perform primary analysis of data
- Perform cell culture process development, media optimization, and bioreactor scale-up
- Perform cell-based assays (immunofluorescence, viability/cytotoxicity assays, flow cytometry, etc.)
- Collaborate with other functional groups including analytical development and downstream process development for characterization studies
Additional Skills (preferred, but not required):
- Experience with statistical design and analysis software (i.e. JMP)
- Experience with manufacturing and/or technology transfer
Attributes:
- PhD in molecular biology, biochemistry, biochemical engineering or related discipline with at least 5 years of experience in the biotechnology / biopharmaceutical industry.
- Proven technical experience in developing animal cell culture-based processes.
- Excellent technical writing, communication and presentation skills.
- Self-directed and enthusiastic about collaborating with a strong and diverse inter-disciplinary team of scientists and engineers.
