Job Details

We are seeking a highly motivated and innovative scientist to join our Cell and Genome Engineering group in the department of Leads Discovery and Optimization. This group provides centralized solutions using high capacity cell biology and recombinant cell lines to support the portfolio Company-wide and is the leader in developing and applying the CRISPR technology for the next generation of genome engineered cell lines as well the application of CRISPR for new target discovery. The successful candidate will join a team of scientists focused on advancing the pace of drug discovery by contributing novel tools and cellular reagents to address many of the common issues that have stymied drug development. The candidate will design and carry out CRISPR based cell line and disease model generation using the most advanced methods possible, including those that involve precision gene editing via homology directed repair and as well as other CRISPR related technologies such as interference, activation and base editing. The candidate should also have a solid background in all supporting cell biology needed to develop new methods and manipulate a variety of cell types including primary immune cells and be comfortable with all aspects of basic cell line development, including various nuclei acid/protein delivery methods, cell isolation platforms (FACS) and genotyping via next generation sequencing and digital droplet PCR. Experience with applying the CRISPR technology in a highly parallel and high throughput manner for purposes of discovering novel drug targets and pathways across all therapeutic areas is highly desirable as is bioinformatic skills to process and interpret genomic level data. The successful candidate will possess excellent verbal and written communication skills and will be comfortable presenting scientific findings and data to working groups and senior management. The ability to work successfully in highly matrixed teams on multiple projects with multiple collaborators is a necessity.

A Ph.D. degree with 3-4 years post-doctoral experience (preferred) in an academic/genome center or industrial setting where CRISPR related technologies were utilized in the course of ones' research as evidenced in the publication record. Must be a proven experimental scientist with extensive experience applying emerging genomic technologies to develop insights into complex biological questions. Knowledge and ability to access, mine and interpret genomic level data and collaborate with bioinformaticians and data scientists a must. Previous experience with genome scale genetic loss and gain of function CRISPR based screens considered a plus. Must have an intense desire to identify and solve drug discovery bottlenecks using the CRISPR technology for the purposes of improving the human condition.
