Overview of Responsibilities:

The R&D Operations Manager is a leadership role providing overall direction, process management, organization management, project management, and various functions across the organization. This position directly reports to the executive team.

We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated individual who will excel in the dynamic environment of an early-stage startup company and who enjoys working on big projects and taking on new scientific and management challenges. The candidate must work independently to achieve management goals over a very broad range of activities. This role demands a highly goal-driven approach and the ability to focus on time-sensitive objectives within the most urgent priorities.

- The R&D Project Manager will direct, develop, and motivate research staff to achieve project goals.

- Apply project management best practices to the creation, maintenance, and improvement of project planning tools and templates for control, monitoring, and continual improvement across the organization. Understand dependencies between key tactics and milestones that comprise a program and ensure alignment to overall strategies at the team, area, and portfolio level.

-Apply strategic oversight for best practices in the creation, maintenance, and improvement of the program planning processes to ensure proper data is captured for control, monitoring, and continual improvement. Interface directly with clients and management to address strategic plans for planning tools, templates and enhancements. Direct and lead cross-functional teams across the organization to optimize planning, tracking, and reporting.

-Ensure high quality data and on time delivery of portfolio reports to key stakeholders across the organization.

-Work across the organization to develop and support strategic initiatives for business process improvement. Create and maintain strategic initiative plans. Synthesize organization opportunities and challenges to make cross-functional recommendations. Act as a catalyst to remove organizational barriers for cross-functional initiative success. Leverage strategic initiatives to streamline planning and reporting practices across the organization.

-View data trends, opportunities and challenges, holistically considering impact across the portfolio and organization. Use advanced knowledge of industry data, advanced analytical, problem solving and critical thinking skills to resolve business problems that align to organization strategies or initiatives.

- Must take initiative to improve standard processes, develop innovative scientific methodologies and approaches to enhance research productivity.

Qualification:

-Advanced degree in the physical sciences with demonstrated experience organizing, directing, and managing organizations, groups, projects, and with demonstrated excellent written communication skills.

-Must have strong strategic thinking and leadership skills that minimally include: effective interpersonal communication; capability to clearly present, influence, and logically justify proposals; sound judgment; negotiation and conflict management; effective communication across cultures and disciplines; relationship building and fostering teamwork; and training experience.
