Job Details
KEY ROLES/RESPONSIBILITIES
The Senior Architectural Designer is responsible for:
- Working with the scientific users to develop floor plans and equipment layouts for laboratories
- Detailed design of laboratory floor plans and elevations, including casework, laboratory equipment and safety equipment
- Designing modifications/repairs to building exteriors, structures and site
- Providing technical guidance to contractors, a&es, scientific personnel and maintenance shops
- Reviewing architectural engineering plans and specifications
- Ensuring compliance with engineering practices and established laws, codes, regulations, and standards, including the NIH design requirements manual
- Performing on-site technical inspections of equipment and systems to ensure design and specification compliance
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
To be considered for this position, you must minimally meet the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed below:
- Possession of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university according to the Council for Higher Education Accreditation. (Additional qualifying experience may be substituted for the required education). Foreign degrees must be evaluated for U.S. equivalency
- In addition to the educational requirements, a minimum of six (6) years of experience in drafting or architectural design
- Experience designing using AutoCad software
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Candidates with these desired skills will be given preferential consideration:
- Familiarity with scientific/laboratory casework and equipment
