AbbVie Oncology is seeking a highly motivated Senior Scientist to advance our oncology late-stage clinical pipeline and approved medicines through translational research. The Senior Scientist will work with a multi-disciplinary team on data analysis and experimental execution of different aspects of translational research.

Key Responsibilities:
- Interrogate target biology, implement and interpret data from preclinical and clinical studies to conceive and execute novel scientific research that can advance AbbVie's oncology late-stage pipeline and approved therapeutics.
- Design and perform experiments to elucidate sensitivity and resistance mechanisms to the therapeutics and mechanism-based combinations to guide the clinical team.
- Generate new scientific proposals and lead those efforts. Act as a lead scientist in his/her area of expertise and critically evaluate relevant scientific advances and integrate this knowledge into clinical development programs.
- Develop productive collaborations and communications with other groups across science disciplines internally and with external collaborators.
Basic:
- PhD; MS; BS in Cancer Biology, Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, or related field with 0+ years (PhD); 8+ years (MS); or 10+ years (BS)
- Excellent interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills are essential.
- Demonstrated ability to work successfully in a team environment.
- Demonstrated critical thinking skills as well as excellence and productivity in independent research.
- Must be proactive and able to work effectively on multiple projects in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- M.D. and/or Ph.D. in Cancer Biology, Cell Biology, Molecular Biology or related field with at least 3+years of relevant postdoctoral cancer research experience in academia or pharma industry.
- Strong background and expertise in apoptosis.
- Demonstrated excellence and productivity in independent research.
