Known for its scientific and operational excellence, Regeneron is a leading science-based biopharmaceutical company that discovers, invents, develops, manufactures, and commercializes medicines for the treatment of serious medical conditions. Regeneron commercializes medicines for eye diseases, high LDL-cholesterol, atopic dermatitis and a rare inflammatory condition and has product candidates in development in other areas of high unmet medical need, including rheumatoid arthritis, asthma, pain, cancer and infectious diseases.

These positions are in Oncology & Angiogenesis (Bio) in Tarrytown, NY. There are 2 openings for Summer 2019. Each opening is described below.

Position 1:
Cancer development requires growth of tumor cells, but also strongly depends on various other cell types present in the tumor mass. For example, blood vessels are required to provide the tumor mass with nutrients and remove waste. In addition, other cell types are involved in tumor growth and in response to various treatments. We study the role of different molecules involved in different aspects of tumor growth. This student's project includes detection and analysis of various cell populations, such as inflammatory cells or blood vessels in tumor tissue sections as well as performing in vitro assays. Altogether, this project involves independent bench, microscope and computer work, after an appropriate training period.

Position 2:
Bladder cancer is the 6th most prevalent cancer type in the United States. Muscle invasive urothelial carcinoma (or muscle invasive bladder cancer) is an advanced form of bladder cancer which represents an unmet medical need with very limited treatment options. We aim to develop novel treatments for muscle invasive bladder cancer patients via the identification of novel bladder cancer specific targets and subsequent development of specific antibody-based therapies. For this, we study the role of various molecules involved in different aspects of tumor growth in bladder cancer models. This student's project aims to characterize various bladder cancer tumor models. Specifically, cellular composition and expression of tumor specific molecules will be assessed. To accomplish this, we utilize a variety of laboratory techniques including, but not limited to, histology-based techniques (H&E staining, IHC, RNA Scope), cell culture-based techniques as well as other standard molecular biology techniques (such as Western blotting, etc). This project involves independent bench, microscope and computer work, after an appropriate training period.
