Job Details

Paragon Bioservices, Inc. (PBI) is a growing biopharmaceutical contract development and manufacturing organization with an internationally recognized tradition of quality and service. PBI provides process development and GMP manufacturing services for Phase I/II clinical trials to industry leaders as well as innovative start-ups utilizing novel technologies to produce state-of-the-art vaccines and therapies for people when they are most in need. The Facilities Maintenance Mechanic requires a good understanding of mechanical and electrical systems in a biopharmaceutical manufacturing/R&D facility, supporting the GMP production of Phase I/II bulk biologics. The Facilities Mechanic is responsible for supporting refrigeration equipment and utilities as well as general facilities operation in the GMP manufacturing of Phase I/II bulk biologics.

Positions available at both Harmans, MD (near BWI) or Baltimore, MD (BioPark)

Positions available for a rotating shift - 6:00 am - 6:00 pm or 6:00 pm - 6:00 am

Key Roles & Responsibilities:
  • Understands mechanical and electrical systems in a biopharmaceutical manufacturing/R&D facility, supporting the GMP production of Phase I/II bulk Biologics
  • Has basic math and computer skills (WORD, EXCEL) and must be familiar with building automation systems (BAS)
  • Must have a detailed understanding of the refrigeration and heating systems/ components and associated controls throughout various applications of equipment
  • Must be proficient in troubleshooting refrigeration systems and completing repairs per required regulations and industry best practices including component change out.
  • Must obtain Grade 3 Stationary Engineer's License within the first year of service
  • Good mechanical ability for equipment troubleshooting and repair
  • Experience in working in an FDA regulated, clean room environment that requires full gowning (Tyvek coverall, gloves, hair cover, shoe covers)
  • Positive, professional attitude toward work and willingness to cooperate with co-workers and supervisors and to contribute to a project team.
  • Timeliness and accuracy in completion of projects and paperwork. (quantity of work)

  • Will participate in facility expansion, validation
  • Works under general supervision to meet project goals
  • Will recommend parts/supply purchases for equipment within the manufacturing/lab areas
  • Works closely with manufacturing/lab staff to troubleshoot and repair equipment problems
  • Works closely with various departments at Paragon and offers assistance as needed
  • Visibly supports and leads adherence to Paragon safety procedures, practices and the cGMPs


Education & Experience:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 2+ years' experience with heating and refrigeration systems
  • Lifting to 40 lbs., and work on ladders/step stools required
  • Must demonstrate abilities in mechanical/electrical repairs and maintenance.
  • Automation and controls operation, repairs and maintenance is preferred
  • Must have proficient knowledge of controls and automation operations
  • Requires basic math and computer skills (WORD, EXCEL) and must be familiar with building automation systems (BAS).
  • Requires working extended periods on his/her feet in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be able to clearly communicate in English (verbal, written).
