We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Scientist III/Team leader with a proven track record of research accomplishments to join our growing cancer research organization. The scientist will lead a small team of 2-3 scientists as part of a larger Cancer Biology area dedicated to discovering and validating novel cancer targets and developing early and late stage discovery programs in the field of Oncology.

We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Scientist III/Team leader with a proven track record of research accomplishments to join our growing cancer research organization. The scientist will lead a small team of 2-3 scientists as part of a larger Cancer Biology area dedicated to discovering and validating novel cancer targets and developing early and late stage discovery programs in the field of Oncology.
Key Responsibilities Includes:
- Lead a small team of 2-3 scientists to investigate emerging biology with clear links between genetic/epigenetic cancer lesions and tumor survival that translates to heightened sensitivities in cancer versus normal cells
- Independently conceive and execute hypothesis driven research projects in the field of Oncology
- Develop innovative ex vivo/in vitro assays to interrogate the function of putative cancer genes
- Develop and implement testing cascades for compound evaluation and SAR elucidation.
- Evaluate novel pathways and mechanisms for potential therapeutic intervention
- Make strong contributions to the research team's short- and long-term scientific strategies
- Develop compelling scientific presentations and reports for internal review meetings, and external collaborators, scientific conferences and peer-reviewed journals
Basic:
- BS, MS, or PhD in Cell Biology with emphasis in Cancer Biology/Genetics, with14+ (BS), 12+ (MS), or 6+ (Ph.D) years of post-graduate experience
- Demonstrated track record of scientific achievement (i.e., strong publication and/or patent record)
- Extensive laboratory experience in the utilization of genomics/genetics to identify/validate novel cancer genes
- Proficient in the application of high-throughput approaches to identify candidate targets (e.g., CRISPR/Cas9), utilization of tumor models (e.g., PDX, CXM), and analysis of big data (e.g., TCGA, METABRIC, etc.).
- Highly developed communication skills and keen ability to engage internal and external team members in collaborative research
- Demonstrated ability to develop and lead master and Ph.D. level scientists
- Ability to thrive in a fast paced, multi-disciplinary, matrixed environment
- Enthusiasm and passion for conceiving and executing innovative scientific research
