Position Summary:

Quad Technologies is a fast-growing life sciences Bio-Techne brand focused on transforming cell separation and cell therapy manufacturing workflows though our disruptive QuickGelTM technology. Our goal is to help deliver breakthrough cell therapies by developing novel cell capture and release technologies that simplify and improve cell isolation and expansion. Our commitment is to providing best in class tools and support to researchers and clinicians working on translational medicine and cell therapy applications.

As part of the Process Development team, this position will drive the development and production optimization of CloudzTM hydrogel particles for research and clinical use. The role will focus on prototyping and troubleshooting particle formation, filtration and other liquid and microparticle handling equipment.  Additionally, the Process Engineer will contribute to developing particle size analysis tools with opportunity to collaborate with technical groups across Bio-Techne.

We are looking for an individual who is highly motivated, organized, with a positive can-do attitude, and the flexibility to support a variety of company activities and projects, such as lab management and product manufacturing. Prior start up experience in life science research or manufacturing is desirable.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, prototype and maintain a variety of particle formation systems for production of cell therapy microparticles
  • Build and evaluate integrated particle filtration and handling systems for R&D and GMP manufacturing
  • Evaluate and systematize analysis of formation patterns, particle size, particle morphology via visualization and analysis tools
  • Devise and execute experiments to troubleshoot hydrogel particle production steps
  • Prepare and characterize CloudzTM particles using established protocols and methodologies for customer projects and product quality analysis.
  • Manage laboratory equipment, materials, and relationships with vendors
  • Collaborate with chemists and biologists across R&D and Process Development teams
  • Develop presentations and communicate technical results to internal and external groups
  • Maintain accurate laboratory records to comply with good laboratory practices and standard operating procedures.

Education and Experience:

  • BS/MS in Mechanical Engineering, or related engineering or science discipline
  • 2-5 years of industrial experience with a track record of delivering creative solutions to urgent high-value challenges

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

  • Demonstrated experience with design, prototyping and operation of liquid handling equipment
  • Strong computer skills with experience with variety of design, data analysis or systems engineering software (Ex: SolidWorks, Minitab, Matlab)
  • Prior exposure to chemistry or biology lab environment with basic knowledge and interest in material science, biology
  • Proficient in planning, organizational and multi-tasking skills to complete assignments in an efficient manner.
  • Ability to communicate professionally, including oral, written, and presentation skills
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, collaborative, startup environment
  • Hands on experience with spray equipment and/or image analysis techniques is a plus
  • Prior exposure with GMP, ISO regulated environment is a desirable
