Job Description:
Legal support to Global R&D
- Provision of general legal advice as needed to the Global R&D organization.
- Proactive monitoring and information to stakeholders of relevant changes to local legislation or local requirements, and training as needed.
- Flag high-risk areas and ensure raising business awareness around applicable laws and regulations through training and day-to day interactions.
- Drafting, reviewing, negotiating and approving agreements as needed.
- Prompt intervention to manage contractual conflicts/litigation.
- Proactive monitoring and management of existing partnerships and alliances.
- Support and participation in strategic discussions around research and license partnerships and CROs management.
- Management of external Legal counsel, disputes and/or litigation as needed.
Legal Support to Development, Medical and Regulatory functions
- Provision of strategic legal advice as needed, in particular, to Global Medical Affairs, Development and Regulatory functions, acting as a key business partner in day-to-day activities.
- Flag high-risk areas and ensure raising business awareness around applicable laws and regulations through training and day-to day interactions.
- Drafting, reviewing, negotiating and approving agreements as needed.
- Support and participation in strategic discussions around products development.
- Management of external Legal counsel, disputes and/or litigation as needed.
General
- Keep up to date on emerging legal Research and Development trends in the pharmaceutical industry, in particular in regulatory laws
- Participate to any relevant, internal and external, working group pertaining to R&D matters relevant to the Pharmaceutical Industry
- Development and Implementation of Global Legal training to clients as needed together with associated tools and templates.
- Supporting the continuous improvement of standard templates and processes
- Ensure smooth collaboration with all the internal stakeholders including the Legal team, in particular Business commercial operations / Technical Operations / IT and Intellectual Property.
- Effective use, mentoring and supervision of Legal interns.
- Ensure smooth collaboration and regular interaction with Ethics & Compliance team and execute plans and reinforce an ethics & compliance culture
- Support and participation in Legal projects as needed in particular but not limited to Digital and IT projects.
Education and Experience
- Law Degree (J.D.) with distinguished academic background and Bar membership required.
- Minimum of 5-7 years of post-qualification experience, including relevant international experience in the healthcare sector, in-house or law firm.
- Legal experience with drug regulatory matters, particularly those pertaining to research and development, is required.
- Experienced in Research and Development legal support (including regulatory law),
- Experienced in negotiating with CROs and, biotech and Research Academics
- Willingness to travel occasionally is essential.
- Experienced in supporting oncology programs is a plus
- Drafting, analysis and negotiation of international contracts
- Languages English. Fluent in French or other languages is a plus
