Position Summary

The Data Analyst is responsible for completing end-to-end business analytics deliverables for internal Ipsen customers. As an independent contributor reporting into the Business Analytics function, you will leverage internal Ipsen resources as well as external vendors to help drive analytic insights tied to strategic commercial recommendations.

The scope of this role includes designing and supporting the production of regular reports including brand dashboards and sales reports, as well as periodic targeting and alignment analyses. You will also have the opportunity to help drive advanced analytics projects through data curation, analysis, and presentation development.

Quality assurance will be a critical component of this job, as will your ability to support ad-hoc requests pertaining to business performance. The Data Analyst will support, own, and help drive cross-functional projects relating to Forecasting, Integrated Insights, Business Development, Sales Analytics, and other functional areas as needed.

Essential Functions

Responsibilities

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Write SQL / R / or SAS queries, analyze data in Excel, and leverage data visualization packages such as Tableau to assist with the development and ongoing review of data-driven reports related to commercial performance
  • Collaborate with Ipsen's Data Steward to ensure that data from a variety of sources (e.g., SP, SD, 3PL, CRM, claims, etc.) is accurately incorporated into Business Analytics deliverables including brand reports, sales trackers, forecasting ad-hocs, etc.
  • Manage and execute ad-hoc requests and/or issue tickets from field, brand, or other teams pertaining to business analytics deliverables in a timely manner
  • Reconcile and synchronize data from numerous sources, conduct complex data analyses, and support data improvement projects including complex matching/merging of disparate data assets in partnership with the Data Operations team
  • Actively monitor the quality and consistency of Ipsen's data sources and practices, adjusting data requirements to ensure alignment across data-driven insight generation
  • Create data-driven PowerPoint presentations for the Integrated Insights team and present your findings to non-technical business stakeholders
  • Follow data security protocols and standards
  • Comply with all laws, regulations and policies that govern the conduct of Ipsen U.S. staff

Qualifications

Education
  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Master's degree in business relations or related field preferred


Experience
  • 3+ years of pharmaceuticals and life sciences experience preferred
  • Previous experience in providing business analytics support to brand units and field teams in the commercial life sciences preferred


Core Competencies (Specific knowledge, skills and abilities that enable an individual to effectively perform the job)
  • The ability to script queries in SQL / R / or SAS, perform complex analyses in Excel, and present relevant information through data visualization tools such as Tableau and PowerPoint
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to comprehend quantitative methods and analytical techniques, and to think creatively about different ways to analyze and troubleshoot data issues including exposure to statistical methodologies
  • Working knowledge of commercial aspects of the pharmaceuticals market including brand management, supply chain, sales planning and execution, market access, and reimbursement challenges
  • Comfortable managing multiple competing projects and able to prioritize work based on evolving needs of the organization
  • Advanced oral and written communication, interpersonal, presentation, decision making, collaboration, and organizational skills
  • Ability to anticipate internal and external business challenges and recommend process, product, or service improvements
  • Familiarity with principles of data warehousing and data stewardship
  • Ability to ensure data accuracy with strong attention to detail and a hard work ethic
  • Ability to effectively perform all functions in adherence with legal, compliance, and regulatory guidelines in the pharmaceutical industry
