Position Summary

The FP&A Financial Manager is accountable for internal financial reporting and modeling in support of assigned Ipsen Biopharmaceuticals General & Administrative Functions. This position will partner and provide support to the executive level management and other functional groups enabling effective financial analysis, reporting, and forecasting of operating results to enable sound business decisions in accordance with GAAP and budget. This position will work with the Support Functions to streamline the current financial reporting processes. In addition, the successful candidate will need to collaborate with several different functional groups, and business partners for ad hoc analysis as well as implementing systems and procedures in accordance with corporate objectives.

Essential Functions

Responsibilities
Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Oversee annual budgeting process and quarterly consolidated rolling forecast for a part of the business
  • Develop and maintain partnership with functional group to ensure accurate monthly financial reporting and provide financial and analytical support
  • Ensure monthly financial results accurately portray current operations and activities by proactively participating in monthly close procedures (accruals, close meetings, financial reviews, etc.
  • Prepare monthly financial reports and metrics and communicate them to the business partners
  • Prepare and update financial forecasts and analyses as required by senior management
  • Identify, interpret and explain budget and expense variances: analyze cost variances, actual vs. plan/forecast and actual vs. prior period, review with Business Partners and Corporate Office
  • Monitor and report on the accuracy and completeness of monthly Accounts Payable accruals
  • Monitor day-to-day financial performance by reviewing and approving Purchase Orders and Contracts in line with the Management approved budget or forecast
  • Communication and coordination with other departments (senior management and directors) on various financial issues: monthly variances to budget and contract administration
  • Review and prepare month-end journal entries in the areas of PO accruals
  • Define and document accounting policies and procedures
  • Backup person for Budget/Forecast Corporate reporting (TM1)
  • Play a key role in developing long range projections to analyze the business by product line
  • This position may infrequently require working after hours and weekends in order to meet specific deadlines for reporting and special projects

Qualifications

Education
  • Bachelor's Degree in a financial related field (finance or accounting)
  • CPA or MBA Preferred

Experience
  • 7+ years of accounting, financial analyses / planning experience combined
  • Knowledge of SAP, RDL, TM1 preferred
  • Knowledge of Pharmaceutical Industry, Sales & Marketing decision support experience preferred

  • Adept at managing / influencing without authority - able to lead and follow as required and function independently
  • Self-starter with passion, energy, enthusiasm to drive results and affect meaningful change

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to analyze information and make sound decisions.
  • Must be able to work on a self-initiated basis and in a team environment, and be willing to work extended hours and travel as required
  • PC literacy required; MSOffice skills (Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point)
