Bristol-Myers Squibb is a global biopharmaceutical company firmly focused on its mission to discover, develop and deliver innovative medicines that help patients prevail over serious diseases. Our BioPharma strategy uniquely combines the reach and resources of a major pharma company with the entrepreneurial spirit and agility of a successful biotech company. We focus on developing our pipeline drugs with innovative, differentiated, patient-centric medicines for patients with severe unmet medical need.

We are looking to hire a talented and motivated individual as a Senior Research Investigator in Drug Product Science & Technology department to conduct innovative research on drug delivery to support the pipeline spanning all modalities (small molecules, peptides, biologics, nucleic acid therapeutics, and other modalities), all routes of administration (oral, non-oral, and injectable), and all disease areas.

Job Responsibilities:

As a member of the team the candidate will be expected to:
  • Perform drug delivery experimentation to test disruptive delivery technologies that modulate the pharmcokinetic profiles of drugs and influences patient experience with differentiated drug products
  • The research would apply to the parenteral, oral, and locally dosed drugs from delivery concept-phase testing for pre-IND drug candidates to life-cycle of mature products,
  • Contribute to the drug product delivery strategy, its integration into product design, formulation of prototypes, the conduct of in vitro drug release/dissolution testing, and animal PK testing.
  • Establish experimental study protocols, interface with stakeholders/collaborators/ partners, perform data analysis and issue summary reports.
  • Use test models and explore new models to gain a mechanistic understanding of drug delivery problems, and their resolution. Contribute to intellectual property where feasible.
  • Support biopharmaceutics assessment of oral and parenteral pipeline assets to understand the bioperformance (PK) risks using in vitro, in vivo and in silico methodologies
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on drug delivery and biopharmaceutics in cross-functional teams interfacing with formulators, clinical PK scientists, Discovery scientists and other matrix team members
  • Work closely with fellow scientists in the group, provide technical advice and mentorship as an SME.

  • Ph. D. in drug delivery, pharmaceutical sciences, biotechnology or related field with 4+ years of pharmaceutical industry experience in drug delivery, formulation, or preclinical pharmacokinetics fields.
  • Must have strong fundamental knowledge and hands-on experience in drug delivery system design, formulation and processing, drug delivery system characterization, and performance testing.
  • Broad expertise across multiple delivery focus areas (e.g. multi/nano particulates, polymer/lipid-based drug extended release technologies, hydrogel-based systems, encapsulation technologies) for peptide/protein, nucleic acid drugs or small molecules is desirable.
  • The job requires cross-functional collaboration to accomplish the following: make prototype formulations, utilize formulation processing equipment, conduct drug release studies, use material characterization techniques, explore in vivo delivery feasibility, assess safety/tolerability, and show proficiency in interpreting experimental data.
  • The candidate must be highly motivated, exhibit an innovative mindset, and possess strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills to effectively function in a team environment.
