The Regeneron Genetics Center (RGC) is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Company, whose goals are to apply large scale human genetics to identify new drug targets and to guide the development of therapeutics programs and precision medicine. Building upon Regeneron's strengths in mouse genetics and genetics-driven drug discovery and development, the RGC specializes in ultra-high-throughput exome sequencing, large scale informatics and data analysis encompassing genomics and electronic health records, and translating genetic discoveries into new biology and drug discovery opportunities. The RGC leverages multiple approaches including large population based studies, Mendelian genetics and family based studies, founder population genetics, and large-scale disease focused projects and has developed a network of over 50 collaborations with research organizations around the world. Including some of the largest sequencing studies in the world, such as the DiscovEHR study in collaboration with Geisinger Health System, and an initiative to sequence 500,000 participants with the UK Biobank, the RGC has built one of the largest human genetics databases, including sequence data from over several hundred thousand participants and rapidly growing. Our interests encompass a breadth of different areas across all therapeutic areas and the RGC is highly integrated into all facets of research and development at Regeneron. Program goals include target discovery, indication discovery, and patient-disease stratification. Objectives include advancing basic science around the world through public sharing of discoveries, providing clinically-valuable insights to physicians and providers of collaborating health-care systems, improving patient outcomes, and identifying novel targets for drug development.

Summary
The Manager role will have primary responsibilities, under the direction of the Deputy Head for Strategic Partnership and Business Operation, to serve as the management lead for the Regeneron Genetics Center (RGC) Finance and Budgeting functions. In this capacity, in consultation with the Deputy Head, the manager will prepare and maintain all centerwide operating budgets, P&L statements and other budgeting tools, assuring alignment between finance and operations of the RGC. In addition, this manager will serve as the lead purchasing agent for the RGC, managing/coordinating all efforts to negotiate, secure and execute purchase orders for equipment and services across the RGC. There will be regular interactions with senior management, senior scientific project teams/committees, internal business/finance/communications personnel, as well as third party external collaborators and vendors. Key focus areas for the role include tactical finance and operational day-to-day tasks, budget planning and variance tracking, vendor management, alignment of all RGC business operations with finance goals and deliverables, as well as strategic thinking to strengthen RGC operations and finances in anticipation of organizational needs.

Responsibilities
Primary Responsibility will include the coordination and management of RGC finance and aligment with RGC operational colleagues in facilitating and executing key business operations and finance activities required to meet RGC operations and growth plans.
Key Finance Responsibilities:

• Manage day to day budget planning and forecasting to facilitate allocation of resources to achieve RGC goals and targets.

• Analyze monthly and quarterly financial results vs. budget and provide variance reporting.

• Perform financial analysis to support strategic initiatives, growth planning and business development, while maintaining budgeted operational expenditures.

• Partner with RGC Strategic Partnerships & Operations Planning colleagues, RGC Leadership and finance team on the long-term group strategy based on input via long-term financial projections and plans.

• Develop and manage RGC financial and business model projection tools

• Serve as the liaison for the RGC with internal Regeneron finance group including managing the relationships with internal finance/accounting function.
Requirements

• Facilitate and manage the RGC's existing purchasing functions, in coordination with Regeneron corporate purchasing, to include leading negotiations of new vendor relationships when needed.

• Serve as the liaison for the RGC with key internal Regeneron operational groups including managing the relationships with internal procurement, IT, communications and other operational groups that are key contributors to the success of the RGC.

• Support the Deputy Head in the management of RGC non-scientific legal agreements.

• Coordinate and contribute to the design and execution of strategic initiatives, focused on improving business and financial operations.

BA in economics, finance or accounting. CPA, MBA or equivalent work experience preferred. BS in biology, chemistry, or related science would enhance qualifications.

10+ years of healthcare industry experience, preferably with pharmaceutical/biotech company or genome center; Significant corporate finance/accounting and/or operations work experience in life sciences, pharmaceuticals, biotechnology or other relevant field strongly preferred; Top-tier biopharma or healthcare industry consulting experience considered. Top-tier investment banking, equity research, private equity, startups and/or biopharmaceutical organizations also considered.

Broad understanding of research operations, management, finance and budgeting, planning and execution.

Outstanding financial modelling skills in Excel. Comfortable developing and interpreting long term financial models as well as constructing "back of envelope" analyses to help support work.

Experience negotiating and interfacing with third party collaborators and vendors preferred.

Familiarity with vendor agreements and corresponding documents (Service Agreements, Supply Agreements, Software Agreements, etc.).

The role will require effective communication, leadership, and ability to work with cross-functional teams across research, clinical, finance, legal, and administrative functions, as well as third party collaborators and vendors. Thus, candidate should have strong project management and collaborations skills, experience leading, working with /within and influencing cross functional teams, as well as excellent oral and written communication skills with significant attention to detail.

Ability to work independently and multitask in a complex, yet entrepreneurial environment. The candidate must be highly organized, process driven, self-motivated and be comfortable with handling multiple, diverse tasks at any given time.

Strategic thinker with understanding of the biopharmaceutical discovery and development operations, genomics and the strategic issues facing the RGC. Sufficient knowledge of or desire to learn about all stages of RGC.
