The Molecular Biologist is responsible for the molecular identification and quantification of organisms as a part of applied research. The position requires an in-depth knowledge of molecular amplification methodologies including nucleic acid purifications, PCR, qPCR, RT-PCR. The candidate should have experience working with complex biological samples. This position requires some knowledge of bacteria culture and characterization. This position requires a BS or MS degree with at least 5 years of experience.

Skills and Experience Required:

Direct experience developing and performing quantitative amplification assays

Experience with fluorescent probe development

Experience with quantitative amplification assays

Hands on experience in developing, producing, and running multiplexed assays using a qPCR machine

Experience with analyte extraction from complex biological samples including saliva

Bacteria culturing and characterization experience highly desirable

Strong analytical and communication skills

Excellent interpersonal skills Essential

Duties and Responsibilities:

Develop qPCR assays Research and development of multiplexed assay

Develop method of sample extraction from biological samples

Construct the design of complex laboratory experiments

Perform experimental testing and data analysis

Development of prototype assay processing and assay analysis equipment

Modeling and data analysis of multiplexed assay results

Contribute to the creation of innovative solutions

Assist with the maintenance, cleanliness and safety of the laboratory

Interface and work effectively with multiple interdisciplinary departments

Maintain appropriate documentation and lab notebook

Troubleshoot equipment and resolve issues with minimal guidance

Independently research and identify sources for reagents and other biological materials

Complete tasks with minimal supervision and assistance
