Reporting to the GPS Operational Excellence Director, this position will lead strategic and operational priorities for OpEx PMO. This position will be responsible for the successful deployment of the OpEx strategy across Global Operations. The position will be a trusted partner, and a hands on coach for leaders and team members in Global Operations. The position will partner with Global Operations teams to meet business objectives and build the foundations to drive continuous, sustainable, flawless execution and performance improvement through deep and broad application of operational excellence methodology.

Job Duties/Responsibilities:

• Use standard Hoshin Kanri approach to shape and execute strategy and approach for deploying the full OpEx to improve business performance and increase people's lean competency

• Train and Coach team members and other key stakeholders to increase their lean technical and lean leadership competency with focus on sites OpEx PMO teams

• Train and coach site leadership teams with focus on the site leader, quality leader, and OpEx PMO leader

• Leverage prioritized projects to deliver improved business performance & increasing skills of site resources

• Application of OpEx to improve safety, compliance, process stability, drive continuous improvement, build quality and efficiency into processes and improve process lead times and speed to market

• In collaboration with OpEx Director - GSC to standardize site supply chain processes following GSC standards

• Improve key site processes including operations, quality, planning and other support functions to enable end to end flow

• Apply lean skills to improve line designs to improve safety, quality and efficiency

• Enhance the management system of sites from Tier 1 to Tier 5

• Manage and leverage external coaches to accelerate people development of site resources

• Partner with other OpEx Directors and team members to ensure standardization

• Develop and implement leader standard work for all key site leaders

• Lead and or contribute to other prioritized OpEx PMO work as required

• Apply change management methods to ensure effective execution of OpEx and to promote a culture and mindset of operational excellence and continuous improvement across operations with increasing external focus and embedding it into our daily work

Job Qualifications:

• Scientific or Engineering Bachelor's degree

• Minimum of 10 years of experience in Operations/Operational Excellence roles in Chemical/Life science/Biotech industry utilizing "lean" principles

• Demonstrated success in developing & deploying Toyota Production System (TPS) strategy to optimize manufacturing operations

• Success developing lean practitioners

• Deep understanding and demonstrated experience reducing end-to-end lead time & inventory optimization

• Demonstrated success building quality into processes (manufacturing and business processes)

• Demonstrated success applying lean in high volume, short and long cycle time processes as well as quality operations

• Demonstrated success in line design (ideally in pharma industry applying lean design)

• Experience improving capacity utilization of various processes: high volume, high mix, high speed, and long cycle time processes

• Expert problem solver with demonstrated success solving complex process level problems

• Ability to connect lean to improving compliance, safety, quality, delivery and efficiency

• Demonstrated success in coaching and influencing site and functional leaders

• Ability to influence leaders and team members without direct authority

• Demonstrated success in improving management systems

• Expert in developing type 1 standardized work, as well as leader standard work

• Demonstrated success leading change (both cultural and technical) to achieve continuous improvement

• Builds relationships, able to negotiate & influence, and manage change in matrix environment

• Superior written and verbal communication, presentation and interpersonal skills

• Required travel of about 50% of the time
