The Tier1 process at Regeneron is a standardized set of phenotyping assays to study the effects of targeted mouse gene knockouts affecting secreted and transmembrane proteins. Phenotyping assays include blood chemistry, hematology (CBC), body composition, tumor growth, immune cell profiling, transcription profiling with RNASeq, in vivo gene expression analysis with a LacZ reporter, microscopy and image analysis for histology, morphology and development.

This person will work in Bioinformatics Services Core in Tarrytown, NY. The Bioinformatics core service manages the organization, analysis and presentation of Tier1 data generated with a variety of technologies, such as automated serum chemistry and hematology instruments, fluorescence activated cell sorting (FACS), microcomputed tomography (uCT) and high-resolution episcopic microscopy (HREM). This student will use a web framework, such as R-shiny, to develop an interactive data viewer to facilitate real-time exploration and analysis of Tier1 phenotyping data.

• Must be an undergraduate or graduate student

• Must be pursuing a degree in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Immunology, or related field

• Must have experience with programming (unix shell, Python,R), web frameworks (R shiny, Python Flask, etc.), relational databases, and biostatistics

• Some background in the life sciences would be preferred

General Intern Program Information:

• Must be enrolled in, or accepted to, an academic program pursuing a Bachelor's, Master's, PhD or PharmD

• Summer Program is full-time (~40 hrs/wk) for at least 10 weeks and is paid

• Prefer demonstrated leadership in areas such as campus activities, clubs, sports or the community

• Minimum GPA of 3.0

• You will work with a specific manager on a project(s)

• Enjoy weekly 1 hour Intern Program events: learn about other areas of the company from VPs and other employees, soft skills workshops, networking, volunteering, and more!

• Present to your team on your summer project
