The Office of Ethics and Compliance (OEC) Associate Director is responsible for leadership, strategic development and implementation of AbbVie's Compliance Program. Specifically, this position supports the Commercial Analytics and Operations (CA&O) function and other enterprise wide initiatives. The Associate Director performs the following with limited supervision:

  • Serves as primary compliance liaison to CA&O Executive leadership, including but not limited to Speaker Program, Samples, Market Research and Business Analytics, Commercial Excellence and Sales Ops.
  • Actively engages with business partners to understand and provide proactive compliance guidance on the development and execution of proposed strategic and tactical initiatives.
  • Provides leadership and guidance on business programs, identifies complex compliance issues, analyzes alternatives and works with business partners to develop and implement solutions.
  • Possesses in-depth knowledge of industry's practices and procedures as well as the external risk environment.
  • Frequently serves as support liaison to other areas of OEC, including Brand Business Compliance Support, International, Training, and Monitoring as well as CCG.
  • Identifies and manages compliance implications of novel enterprise wide initiatives.
  • Operates independently with autonomy and limited supervision.
  • Demonstrates strong leadership competencies.

Position Accountability / Scope

Reports to Director, OEC Enterprise Support. Assigned matters have significant impact to company ethics and compliance program. Operates with autonomy and limited supervision. Defines annual goals and strategies to align with business goals and objectives. Strategically partners with Legal, Regulatory and other areas of OEC. Makes presentations to stakeholders as needed.

Basic:

BA/BS or equivalent work experience required. Masters or JD preferred.

  • Minimum of 7 years applicable experience, with strong preference for health care compliance, legal and/or regulatory experience.
  • Demonstrated strong communication skills, written and verbal.
  • Demonstrated strong project management skills including PowerPoint Presentations.
  • Strong work ethic and proven track record of closing out initiatives successfully.

Significant Work Activities and Conditions

Continuous sitting for prolonged periods (more than 2 consecutive hours in an 8 hour day)

Keyboard use (greater or equal to 50% of the workday)
