The mission of the Biomedical Informatics and Data Science Directorate (BIDS) is to leverage leading-edge data science and information technology skills and capabilities to provide the best tools and services to accelerate translation of biomedical data to scientific discoveries, medical treatments, and diagnostic and prevention tools for cancer and AIDS patients.


Software Engineer III
  • Independently support the analysis, design, development, testing and deployment of various software applications
  • Writing and performing unit tests based on requirements
  • Provide high quality customer support
  • Coordinates technical problems and issues related to hardware and software
  • Provide feedback on conducted research of new tools and technologies
  • Develops best practice technical documentation

  • Possession of a Bachelor' s degree from an accredited college or university according to the Council for Higher Education Accreditation. (Additional qualifying experience may be substituted for the required education). Foreign degrees must be evaluated for U.S. equivalency
  • In addition to the educational requirements, a minimum of six (6) years of experience in object-oriented, JAVA and J2EE software development
  • Strong experience in designing and developing reusable, and scalable software solutions using Java/J2EE, JavaScript, Struts, Spring, and JPA/Hibernate
  • Experience with front-end frameworks such as JQuery UI, Ajax, CSS/Bootstrap, etc.
  • Experience with exposing and consuming JSON based RESTful services
  • Experience working in an agile development environment
  • Strong interpersonal skills, highly motivated, and collaborative approach to problem solving with minimal supervision required
