Responsibilities
Elanco seeks a Post-Doctoral Fellow to conduct research in the area of Companion Animal (canine and feline) Osteoarthritis. Through analysis of currently available data sets and prospective collection of additional data, the Fellow will work to fill critical gaps in knowledge associated with our ability to effectively evaluate osteoarthritis assets in research, development, and post-marketing studies. The Fellow will work in both the preclinical and clinical research space, evaluating and optimizing animal models, while collating and analyzing data from a variety of clinical studies. A team of senior Elanco scientists will mentor the Fellow.

- Drive creative solutions and hypothesis development
- Work exceptionally well independently and with minimal supervision
- Deep dives into relevant scientific literature/new models/technologies/capabilities.
- Design and oversee the conduct of in-life animal studies in dogs and cats in laboratory and client-owned settings.
- Collection, management, and basic analysis of preclinical and clinical research data
- Data reporting, interpretation, and presentation
- Manuscript preparation and publication authorship
Basic Qualifications
- Currently enrolled or having previously received a DVM/VMD/MD and/or PhD in Animal Science, Pain/Neuroscience, Rheumatology or related scientific field
Additional Skills/Preferences
- High personal ethical and quality standards.
- Exceptional problem solving and decision-making skills.
- Understanding of the current state of the pain/osteoarthritis field
- Basic understanding of biostatistics
- Track record of successful project/experiment execution especially for those involving management of or communication amongst several individuals
- Ability to prioritize multiple projects or tasks
- English speaking with effective oral and written communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Proven to be self-motivated, with demonstrated high level of responsibility and professionalism
- Ability to make decisions within the context of uncertainty and ambiguity
- Ability to think strategically
- Interest in the companion animal health industry and/or companion animal heath product development
Additional Information
- Occasional travel to study sites
- This position is not permanent. It is for a fixed duration of two years with potential to extend to 3 years.
