The Research Associate – Gene Therapy is responsible for supporting AGTC’s gene therapy research projects in alignment with the Company goals, working independently with minimal supervision.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop and qualify new assay methods, including in vitro and cell-based assays
  • Plan, execute and troubleshoot routine assays and procedures
  • Collect, analyze, and summarize data in a timely manner
  • Write and/or review SOPs, technical reports and study reports
  • Maintain relevant laboratory supplies and equipment as needed
  • Present scientific results at appropriate meetings and conferences
  • Observe and comply with AGTC’s Employee manual and Safety and Quality manual
  • Knowledge of laboratory safety, OSHA policies, and EPA standards

Educational Qualifications

  • A B.S. or higher degree, with a degree in a Biology, Biochemistry or relevant science major
  • Four years or more of relevant experience strongly preferred
  • Hands-on laboratory experience in common molecular biology, cell biology and protein chemistry techniques

Additional Qualifications

  • Advanced proficiency in basic biological laboratory techniques, including cloning, PCR, bacterial & mammalian cell culture, transfection procedures and immunoassays
  • Proven record of delivering high quality results against deadlines
  •  Good documentation practice
  • Highly motivated with the ability to work as a team player, as well as independently
  • Detail oriented with strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Working knowledge of commonly used scientific software programs
