SEC Financial Reporting Analyst

Bionano Genomics is seeking a positive, self-motivated and energetic accountant who will be responsible for technical accounting and SEC reporting.  This includes accounting for equity-related transactions, revenue recognition, preparing consolidations, and drafting our financial statement filings with the SEC.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

• Prepare quarterly equity compensation work papers to support equity and EPS footnotes
• Enter monthly, quarterly, and annual journal entries, as needed, into general ledger and prepare related reconciliations
• Prepare and/or review quarterly work papers required for SEC financial filings
• Coordinate and facilitate inquiries and requests of the company’s external auditors
• Provide interpretation of new GAAP and SEC rules and regulations and their effect on the business
• Perform accounting research and document the company’s position in regard to complex accounting matters
• Prepare Consolidated Balance Sheet, Consolidated Income Statement, Statement of Cash Flows, Statement of Stockholders' Equity and Form 10-K and 10-Q support binders
• Assist with the preparation of other SEC filings (8-Ks and offering documents)
• Drive process improvements and innovations within the department as within the Company
• Organize supporting documentation for quarterly reviews and year-end financial statement audit
• Manage our SOX Compliance efforts over financial reporting and stock compensation
• Interact with financial management, general management, internal/external auditors and other personnel
• Perform other tasks as requested, including ad-hoc analysis
• Administer other platforms that relate to your accounting areas of responsibility

Required Education and Experience:

• 4-8 years relevant accounting experience
• University degree in accounting or finance
• Public accounting experience (Big 4 preferred) 
• Experience with auditing and/or supporting the preparation of SEC Reports
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Advanced working knowledge of MS Office Suite
• Experience with ERP’s and accounting systems
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
• Ability to perform technical research in areas with little or no prior experience

Advantageous Background and Skills:

• Experience in biotech industry preferred
• Applies knowledge of business, accounting, and financial principles
• Understanding of internal controls and proper supporting documentation
• Track record of taking initiative to resolve issues
• Ability to manage concurrent multiple projects and activities and adapt to change
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
