Senior Research Associate I, Discovery Virology

 

Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated Sr. Research Associate with expertise in immunology to join our research efforts to identify new immune based therapeutics for functional cure of chronic hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection.

 

Essential Duties and Job Functions:

• The selected candidate will have a critical role in optimizing and carrying out various cell based assays for discovery and preclinical evaluation of therapeutics focused on enhancing antiviral immune responses.

• Collaborates with colleagues to plan and execute experiments that support project goals.

• Have the ability to recognize fundamental anomalies and issues in experimental results, and applies independent thinking to suggest resolution to technical issues; proactively seeks out senior personnel to discuss potential solutions to problems.

• Participates in group meetings; presents research results, interprets data, and draws conclusions regarding presented material and nature of work.

 

Knowledge, Experience and Skills:

• Background in immunology or cell biology, preferably with more than 2 years of hands on experience investigating antiviral or antitumor immune responses.

• Experience in technical skills pertaining to immunology research involving multi-color flow cytometry and other molecular biology assays.

• Strong ability to troubleshoot and optimize assays, as well as aptitude to learn and apply new techniques as necessary.

• Hands on experience with protein and DNA/RNA extraction from cells/tissues, Western blot, qPCR, ELISA, and Luminex assays.

• Experience with primary cell isolation from blood/tissue, cell culture systems, and aseptic techniques are highly desirable.

 

Educational background:

• Bachelor’s degree in Immunology or a related life science discipline with 4+ years, or a Master’s degree with 2+ years of working experience in academics or biotechnology/pharmaceutical industry.
