Job Description:

In partnership with Project Directors (PD) and senior level Project Managers (PM), the chosen candidate will manage several Discovery projects as part of AbbVie's collaboration with Calico. The Project Manager will work with internal project teams and world class external collaborators to create project and resourcing plans to operationalize project strategies and meet key objectives and timelines.

Major Responsibilities:

 

 

  • Build cross-functional relationships and teams across sites and functions as well as with external partners
  • Build partnerships with legal, contracting, Discovery operations, and other teams as necessary to develop processes to match contractual terms with existing internal processes and compliance
  • Collect and compile project information through various reporting systems and ensure information is correct; communicate appropriately with PD/external partners to drive our science and meet contractual obligations on time
  • Develop and evaluate project plans on a routine basis to identify resource / schedule conflicts. Bring to the attention of PD and management team, along with providing recommendations for decision making
  • Work with internal and external collaborators to develop agenda and lead governance meetings per contractual obligations
  • Review critical path; identify potential bottlenecks and opportunities
  • Identify issues impacting cross-functional team alignment and elevate for resolution to PD
  • Assist in risk assessment and risk mitigation strategies
  • Participate with Discovery process improvement initiatives
  • Responsible for communicating project level information to the PD/PM/external partners

 


Level of position is commensurate with education and experience

Basic

 

 

 

 

 

  • Bachelor's Degree in a Science or Business related field with 5+ years of project management experience or pharmaceutical/biotech industry experience that utilizes project management skills
  • Experience leading and working on multiple projects simultaneously
  • Demonstrated exceptional written, verbal and interpersonal skills
  • Proven ability to influence others without having direct reporting authority

 


Preferred:

 

 

 

 

 

  • PMP certification
  • Project management experience (2+ years) in drug development pipeline projects in the Discovery and Development phases
  • Demonstrated advanced problem solving skills in a team environment, have excellent negotiation or influencing skills and an ability to establish and influence team timelines and expectations
  • Experience facilitating meetings and driving decision making on cross-functional teams
  • Familiar with one or more areas of Drug Development (e.g., CMC, Preclinical, Clinical, Regulatory Affairs)
