Scientist I, Computational Design, Protein Engineering

Job Description:

We are seeking a skilled and enthusiastic computational biologist at a Scientist I level to join the Protein Engineering group. The group develops and modifies novel antibody biologics, driving specific responses in disease states, in close collaboration with other protein and immunology scientists at Bristol-Myers Squibb. The candidate will be expected to lead a variety of protein engineering projects to generate, characterize, and optimize Immuno-Oncologic therapeutic leads.

Specific Responsibilities:
  • Assist in protein engineering efforts to optimize antibodies and other proteins for biologics drug discovery.
  • Analyze NGS sequences and other datasets, and create tools to analyze and visualize results.
  • Independently perform protein modeling and computational design with strong attention to requisite biologic response.
  • Excellent written and oral skills are necessary.
  • Accomplish goals under project team time lines.


Requirements
  • Ph.D. in computational biology, bioinformatics, or similar field with 0-2 years of industry experience.
  • Understanding of sequence and structure of antibody repertoires and bioinformatics tools utilized in their analysis.
  • Experience in protein modeling, docking, and structure-based protein design with Rosetta or similar packages.
  • Programming experience in Python and/or R for protein structure and sequence analyses, data analytics, and visualization.
  • Experience with high performance computing and/or cloud computing.
  • Demonstrated ability for deep and creative thinking.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work in a multidisciplinary biologics discovery team.
