Join bluebird bio's passionate and collaborative team by contributing to the overall success of our novel gene therapy approach. bluebird bio seeks an outstanding Director of Global Market Access (referred to as Access, Value and Evidence Strategy (AVES) at bluebird). Reporting to the Senior Director of AVES and Access lead for hemoglobinopathy indications, the primary responsibilities of this role will be to lead value and access strategy development for a gene therapy in Sickle Cell Disease (SCD) and lead pre-launch initiatives.

About the Role:
  • Lead AVES strategy development for SCD
    • Serve as AVES representative in cross-functional teams and communicate access, value and reimbursement perspectives to commercial strategy development
    • Execute access and value related projects of payer market research, access landscape research, payer advisory panels and/or early advice interactions - both those conducted in-house as well as vendor management for outsourced projects
    • Develop value story, value messages and lead value dossier development
    • Contribute access perspective to prioritization of value demonstration initiatives and integrate findings into access strategies
    • Develop pricing, reimbursement and contracting strategies for SCD and lifecycle indications
    • Monitor competitive landscape throughout the launch period and pull-through necessary strategic updates

About You:
  • 7+ years of relevant work experience in biotech/pharma or market access related consultancy with demonstrated ability to work cross functionally. MUST include at least 2 years of industry experience on a launch product
  • An advance degree (MBA or MS) preferred
  • Experience managing projects in a fast-paced, matrixed-team environment
  • Broad understanding of global healthcare reimbursement systems (especially US and Europe) and basic principles of market access, pricing, reimbursement and health economics
  • Adept at processing complex and voluminous amounts of information, as well as producing spreadsheet and powerpoint-based deliverables
  • Excellent organizational skills, sufficient to multi-task in an extremely fast-paced environment with changing priorities, ability to work autonomously is a must
