Represents and accountable for all TM functions (including Biomarkers, Pharmacodiagnostics (PDx), Translational Sciences, Clinical Mechanisms, Enabling Solutions, Bioinformatics, and Translational Research) in establishing the cohesive asset TM strategy aligned with DT strategy.

Leads the cross function matrixed TM team to develop and deliver the asset TM strategy. Ensures that the asset TM team is focused on prioritized deliverables aligned with DT strategy.

Accountable for ensuring alignment of the asset TM strategy with TM Leadership Team and other key stakeholders.

Accountable for the TM strategy as a core member of Late Asset Development Teams (DTs). Represents TM in necessary governance reviews for strategy endorsement.

Accountable to ensure the integration and delivery of well-developed and focused patient selection and pharmacodynamic biomarker hypotheses and other TM aspects in DT strategy and clinical development programs.

Provides leadership to prioritize biomarkers for pull through to PDx development, timely engagement of the PDx function, and seamless efficient transition to PDx development and commercialization.

Partners with Clinical, Biostatistics, Regulatory, Discovery, Clinical Operations, Project Management, Commercial and other DT members to develop and implement scientific strategies to evaluate responsive patient populations and for biomarker evaluation and diagnostic development.

Partners with Medical Affairs to develop asset specific Medical, Communication, Publication, and Non-Registrational data generation strategies and review of investigator sponsored research proposals.

Participates in strategic overview of presentations, publications and internal/external communications along with accountable TM Leadership.

Works closely with the TM matrix team and subject matter experts within the broader TM organization to achieve resolution of TM challenges with speed and innovation.

Accountable for ensuring appropriate and focused TM related resourcing requests.

May contribute to due diligence efforts relating to TM technologies, asset acquisition/licensing etc.

Qualifications

MD or PhD, or equivalent advanced biology degree. Experienced scientist with 8+ years' experience in the drug discovery and development process.

Documented experience in oncology drug development (small molecule and/or biologic / immuno-oncology) in one or more major disease areas (e.g. melanoma, lung cancer, hematologic cancers, etc.).

Deep understanding of the role of translational medicine/research, clinical biomarkers, clinical pharmacology in drug development. Pharmocodiagnostics and drug delivery experience highly desired but not required.

Working knowledge of key functional areas of drug development, including, discovery biology, clinical development, regulatory, clinical pharmacology, toxicology, etc.

Demonstrated ability to influence internal and external stakeholders in a highly dynamic, matrixed organization.

The successful candidate will be a highly motivated, confident, and collaborative scientist with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and demonstrated ability to prioritize.

Proven leadership experience and success with leading matrix teams. Acts as an inclusive leader.

Ability to work effectively in a matrix environment that includes interactions with multiple stakeholder groups; particularly demonstrated ability to work across the critical interfaces within R&D or across the enterprise.

Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where speed is paramount.

Ability to recognize, articulate, and accept calculated risks to make informed decisions.

Demonstrated experience in the appropriate application and integration of various scientific technologies into translational medicine strategies.

Operates with independence, and possesses the confidence and fortitude to take principled positions.

Excellent communication and presentation skills, high level negotiation skills, and the ability to resolve conflict in a constructive manner.
