Specifically, this position will work with other research and development groups and program group leaders to prioritize and coordinate efficient use of the in vivo department facilities, equipment, and staff. The position requires excellent people management skills with in-depth knowledge of in vivo pharmacology, cell therapy, rodent models of human disease and preclinical imaging and histology. This is a full-time position in In Vivo Pharmacology located at the Company’s corporate headquarters in San Diego, California.
Responsibilities:
- Coordination with the program leads in a matrix-managed environment to ensure effective time and staff management and prioritization of corporate and group goals
- Provide oversight and aid in the design and performance of various animal studies that may require a wide variety of technical skills for compound/cell administration, bleeding, surgery, imaging and analysis
- Development of rodent models of human disease as required by ongoing research and development programs
- Contribute to the design and execution of GLP-compliant pharmacology and toxicology studies
- Complete reports and related documents required for relevant agencies
Qualifications
- Ph.D. degree in Immunology or Cell Biology or other related fields with a minimum of 5 years of post-graduate research. Relevant industry experience preferred.
- Attention to detail with excellent leadership, organizational and record keeping skills is a requirement.
- Previous hands-on experience in operating and developing models using an IVIS instrument is highly desirable.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to interact effectively with people, internally and externally is required.
- Proven track-record of supervising and motivating research teams.
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements
- Will require working with cells and cell lines of human and/or animal origin
- Occasional weekend and/or evening hours required
- 100% on site work at corporate headquarters in San Diego, CA
