Job Details

Sickle Cell Disease is a serious and progressive genetic disease that affects approximately 100,000 people in the United States alone. The single genetic mutation in the beta-globin gene leads to a range of debilitating SCD complications which result in significant morbidity and healthcare utilization, poor QoL, high psychosocial burden, and early mortality. ​ The need for a transformative treatment is urgent and critical. At bluebird bio, we believe gene therapy holds promise to make hope a reality for patients and families affected by Sickle Cell Disease.

However, for this therapy to reach the people that need it, there are a number of commercialization challenges to overcome. One of the most critical will be to educate health care professionals on a potentially transformative one-time gene therapy treatment. The Associate Director of HCP Marketing for Sickle Cell Disease will help shape the way we introduce this innovation to the US Healthcare professional.

In this role, examples of what you will need to deliver:
  • Deep insights. Understand key drivers and barriers of key health care professional stakeholders behavior and how those stakeholders engage each other. Assess the treatment landscape changes that may affect the need for a gene therapy product and identify key strategic implications
  • Identify and build strategic options and imperatives for launch
  • Prioritize and execute tactics to achieve strategic imperatives. Establish and track key metrics of progress. Define, gain alignment on, and manage budget required to support execution.
  • Earn trust and respect of other subject matter experts. Ensure compliance of all activity and deliverables. Communicate effectively and clearly. Collaborate with other subject matter experts to execute multi-dimensional deliverables.

Minimum experience we look for:
  • Bachelors degree in life sciences or equivalent practical experience
  • At least 4 years of commercialization experience in the life sciences field (can include marketing, medical affairs, market research, market access, sales, etc)
  • At least 5 years of marketing experience; 1 to 2 years of global marketing experience

Preferred experience we look for:
  • MBA or advanced degree
  • Digital marketing experience
  • Product launch experience
  • At least 2 years of work experience in an early stage company environment
