Job Details
Summary
This is a permanent position in protein biochemistry group, primarily responsible for biophysical characterization and developing methods to determine kinetics and affinities of protein interactions using Surface Plasmon Resonance (SPR) and Bio-Layer Interferometry (BLI).
Responsibilities
The Protein Biochemistry organization, with staff located in Tarrytown, NY, provides biochemical and biophysical characterization of candidates in support of moving bio-therapeutic drugs from post-IND (Investigational New Drug) to late stage development/life-cycle management. We are looking for a motivated, energetic, and detail-oriented individual to work within the Protein Characterization group to provide analytical characterization and comparability assessment of drug products. Understanding principals and practical applications of biophysical methods for protein characterization are required. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in Surface Plasmon Resonance (SPR) and Bio-Layer Interferometry (BLI) to determine binding kinetics. Primary responsibilities for this role include characterization of monoclonal antibodies for regulatory filings. The position will require an individual with the ability to work independently and within a team environment and possess clear communication skills.
Requirements
• Ph.D. in Biochemistry, Biophysics or other relevant scientific field and 0-2 years industry experience.
• Strong scientific background in protein analysis with hands-on laboratory experience in the biochemical or biophysical characterization of proteins.
• Hands-on laboratory experience with capillary and gel-based electrophoresis, static and dynamic light scattering, spectroscopic techniques (fluorescence, CD, FTIR, DSC), and prior experience with Surface Plasmon Resonance (SPR) and Bio-Layer Interferometry (BLI) techniques (highly preferred).
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work in a cross-functional team environment.
• The candidate must demonstrate the ability to plan, design, implement and analyze laboratory experimentation to advance projects.
• A proven track record of publications in peer-reviewed journals is a plus.
