Summary
The Associate Manager/Manager role will have primary responsibilities in supporting the Strategic Partnerships & Business Operations team at the Regeneron Genetics Center (RGC) in leading key business development and operations projects in support of the group's scientific mission. The primary scope of responsibilities for this role will be focused on facilitating and executing key business development activities for the RGC. There will be regular interactions with senior management, senior scientific project teams/committees, internal busness/legal personnel and third party external collaborators.
Responsibilities
Primary Responsibility will include the opportunity to work with the RGC Strategic Partnerships & Business Operations team, RGC scientific team, Regeneron Business Development, Legal and Finance colleagues in sourcing and negotiating collaborations to support increased deal flow required to meet RGC growth plans.
Lead key in-licensing activities including search/evaluation, due diligence, negotiation/execution including collaborations/licenses with academic and health system partners.
Partner closely with internal legal and intellectual property teams to negotiate and implement appropriate legal agreements to support research and development goals.
Partner with RGC Strategic Partnerships & Business Operations team and RGC management team to define overall RGC BD strategy and work closely with RGC Strategic Partnerships & Business Operations and legal team to define specific deal strategy & structure.
Contribute to future out-licensing activities including business case, valuation, deal structure, deal terms and negotiation approach.
Partner with finance to identify, conduct and/or coordinate business/financial analysis to support the transaction process.
Requirements
BS in biology, chemistry, or related science or BA in economics. MBA or equivalent work experience. Scientific background (MS, MD or PhD) not required, but preferred.
5+ years of healthcare industry experience, preferrably with pharmaceutical/biotech company or genome center; business development and licensing experience preferred; Academic Technology Transder experience perferrred; top-tier biopharma or healthcare industry consulting experience considered.
Experience in leading negotiations of collaboration and licensing agreements, sponsored research agreements and material transfer agreements.
Skilled and experienced at the fundamentals of pharmaceutical/biotech business development - networking, search and evaluation, partner discussions/negotiations, term sheets, agreements, etc. This also includes experience leading or participating in due diligence teams and assessing commercial value of in-licensing opportunities/technology IP.
Excellent oral and written communication skills with significant attention to detail.
Ability to work independently and multitask in a complex, yet entrepreneurial environment.
Strategic thinker with understanding of the biopharmaceutical discovery and development process, genomics and the strategic issues facing the RGC. Sufficient knowledge of or desire to learn about all stages of RGC activities.
Demonstrates the ability to think creatively and independently, propose solutions proactively, and exhibit sound judgment.
The candidate must be highly organized, process driven, and self-motivated.
The role will require effective communication, leadership, and ability to work with cross-functional teams across research, clinical, finance, legal, and administrative functions as well as third party collaborators.
