Star Therapeutics is an early-stage private biotechnology company focused on transforming the lives of patients with serious and life-threatening rare diseases. We seek an experienced corporate development leader to work across numerous functions – including business development, fundraising, commercial, finance, legal, project management, and operations.

Summary:

The Vice President, Corporate Development will be a key contributor to setting and executing on the company’s corporate strategy. The candidate will report to and work in close collaboration with the CEO. The candidate must have extensive leadership experience in business development, fundraising, commercial, finance, legal, and project management in the biotechnology/pharmaceutical industry. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of the drug development process and a demonstrated track record of leading corporate development for companies at different stages.

Responsibilities: 

  • Business development activities including partnering, search and evaluation of in-licensing opportunities, due diligence, and transactions
  • Fundraising within the investor community (VCs and crossover investors)
  • Commercial activities including market assessment and natural history studies
  • Operations activities including finance, legal, and project management
  • Demonstrate strong people management skills, leading by example and working with teams to manage multiple projects
  • Represent the company both internally and externally, with both the scientific and business communities

Prerequisites: 

  • 10+ years of relevant experience at biotechnology/pharmaceutical company, working at one or more smaller, fast-paced biotech companies
  • Significant corporate and/or business development experience, with a strong deal sheet
  • PhD, MD, or PharmD
  • Successful track record in evaluating commercial opportunities, possessing strong analytical and quantitative modeling skills
  • Extensive experience in managing partnerships through execution, with strong project leadership and interpersonal capabilities
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and lead cross-functional teams
  • Ability to manage complexity and ambiguity in a fast-paced work environment
