Position Overview

Directs the planning and execution of projects integrating primary market research, commercial analysis, forecasting, and competitive intelligence.

Directs the planning and execution of projects integrating primary market research, commercial analysis, forecasting, and competitive intelligence to support new product planning / marketing. Actively participates in and supports in-licensing, business development, and M&A special projects. Develops the analytics to support business processes within marketing, business development, corporate development, corporate projects, and other departments. Organizes projects, establishes and focuses on priorities, manages time and resources appropriately, exercise sound judgment and decision-making. Selects, develops, and evaluates personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function.

Responsibilities:

Participates with the Marketing Team in the development of strategic plans and objectives. Develops and delivers rigorous, analytics-based decision support, including market research, business intelligence, data analytics, forecasting and insight generation to inform optimal strategic asset decision-making including:
  • designing, executing, and integrating of quantitative analyses of primary and secondary market data to assist with the development of recommendations,
  • directing the development, production, and interpretation of standard analysis deliverables such as Monthly Reports,
  • providing strategic competitive market assessments and analytical support to guide and determine the strategy for pipeline products, and
  • independently develops forecast models for US and global markets with clearly identified assumptions (in partnership with new product planning /marketing).
Plays a key role in development of methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for projects. Works on complex issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth knowledge of the company and therapeutic areas including oncology, pain and auto-immune diseases. Ensures budgets and schedules meet corporate requirements. Independently directs and develops project work plans that meet client needs within time and resource constraints and applies structured problem solving approaches to business problems. Works on multiple complex, simultaneous projects and brings them to completion. Develops and delivers sophisticated messages/presentations to senior management explaining complex concepts clearly. Works with and leads team members to successfully accomplish team and individual goals. Identifies and selects outside vendors and manages their efforts as needed. Designs and executes multivariate techniques in primary research or spreadsheets using data manipulation capabilities such as, pivot tables, macros, etc. Independently conducts complex analyses using advanced statistical capabilities of SAS or other common statistical analysis packages. Ensures that routine and ad-hoc projects meet service level expectations for quality and timeliness. Proactively develops proficiency in the commercial analytics functions. Proactively suggests and conducts analysis to aid with strategic direction of the business. Develops and manages budgets. Handles sensitive communications effectively displaying a high level of professionalism.

Minimum Qualification Requirements:
  • A minimum of a Bachelors degree in a Business, Marketing or other relevant discipline is required. An advanced degree such as and MBA is preferred. Equivalent experience may be accepted.
  • A minimum of 15 years marketing, business or other relevant experience is required. A minimum of 12 years experience in the pharmaceutical/healthcare industry or related business experience which suggests a solid business acumen is required. A minimum of 12 years previous management experience is preferred.
  • Previous experience in multiple therapeutic areas including oncology.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills are required.
  • Must be able to demonstrate experience with 'best practices' in quantitative analysis. Extensive knowledge and experience of various commonly used pharmaceutical data sources used in forecasting and performance assessment including epidemiology resources, medical and pharmacy claims, specialty pharmacy and distribution data sets, EHRs, etc. (i.e. Iqvia (e.g., NSP, NPA, and BrandImpact) Intrinsiq or IPSOS, etc.).
  • Experienced at leveraging a variety of forecasting methodologies, in particular robust knowledge of patient based forecasting methods and compliance and persistency analysis, preferably in Oncology indications
  • Excellent computer skills including knowledge of analysis and reporting software (i.e. SAS, Excel, etc.) are required.
  • Ability to conduct primary research (ie. qualitative or quantitative) and secondary market research (Prescription, Sales, EHRs, Claims Data etc) studies in support of market insight and forecast assumption development
  • Experience developing presentations for audiences such as Executive Management is required. Demonstrated ability to clearly and concisely present forecasts that are complex in nature to senior management.
  • Must demonstrate leadership, productivity and follow-through skills.
  • Solid understanding of sales and marketing, as well as good grounding in both clinical and financial aspects of product evaluation is required.
  • Must have demonstrated successful performance in strategic/operational analysis and planning, analytical techniques, financial and market assessments. Excellent project management, analytical, and organizational skills are required.
  • Must have a demonstrated ability to work effectively individually as well as in teams. Proven ability to effectively interact with stakeholders and decision makers, work cross functionally and manage multiple internal working relationships, understand customer needs and incorporate analytics and results
